The Dark Mark Strikes Again!

After Lord Voldemort's confrontation at the Ministry, the death eater attacks have become more frequent. The seventh Dark Mark this month was found over Deaton Hills on October 26 with a black patch of ground underneath it. Aurors suspect there was a body burned to ashes, which is unusual as the death eaters never tried to hide the identities of their victims.

What's more questionable is, if they wanted to hide the person's identity, why cast the dark mark and attract attention? Is You-know-Who trying to send a message? Who was this person? How-

"It was not one of us, my Lord. We don't even know where this place is."

Voldemort placed the Prophet down as Alecto Carrow spoke. "She remembers." He mumbled. There was a slight smile on his face as he too remembered that day, but it was gone as soon as it came.

He looked at the Carrow sister and coldly said, "The victim was one of us. Gather every death eater; find out who is missing."

"Yes, My Lord." She bowed and turned to leave.

"We might know who that is." Bellatrix said she was almost scared to admit that she lost Narcissa again, lost a duel with Sirius, and didn't even leave a scratch on Josette.

Voldemort turned to face her. When he didn't say anything, she continued, "Pettigrew found out where my traitor sister was hiding. I went there with him and Alecto."

"We didn't see Mrs. Malfoy, but Hart was there. We got into a duel. Sirius Black got involved, and they caught Pettigrew." Alecto continued.

"How did Pettigrew find her?"

"He followed Snape." Bellatrix hesitated before answering, considering how much faith he has in him.

"Severus?" Voldemort turned to the man. "You said you were unaware of Narcissa's whereabouts."

"I was; I only found out about her that day. Before I could get to you, Pettigrew ruined everything." Severus answered, blocking his mind from Voldemort.

"You seem to have excuses for everything, Severus, almost as if they were lies." Voldemort sneered.

"I would never lie to you, my Lord." Severus assured him.

"Why didn't you protect Pettigrew?"

"I was not there when they attacked. Ask them." He pointed at Bellatrix and Carrow.

"He was not." Bellatrix answered truthfully, though she wanted to lie just to get him in trouble.

"So, it was you three against one, and you were losing." Voldemort glared at the two, clearly disappointed.
