overtime- ashtray

It had been 3 days since Fee had spoken to Ashtray, she hadn't cut him off. She just needed to think things through. It was also her first day of work at the cafe. She wore a navy blue short sleeve top that cut of write at her belly button with a denim skirt and her half length apron which was also navy blue. She had put her hair in slick back yet again and she looked good. 

Maddy was still in the process of moving in and was ordering new things but they had done a lot of work in there little time. 

Fee took a last glance at herself before going into the kitchen. "Morning" Fee said putting her air forces on at the door.

Maddy stretched, rubbing her eyes. Maddy didn't start till tomorrow so she has one more day to get sorted.

"I will see you later" Fee smiled.

Maddy ran over to fee giving her a kiss on the cheek and wishing her look. The sun shone down on Felicity. It was yet again a warm summer day in summer break. Fee left 45 minutes earlier then she should because she thought she should reassure Ashtray. She was nervous to see him, she had been ignoring his texts and calls over the past few days . She was unsure what we will say. 

"Hey fez" Fee awkward looked down on Fezco who was sat on a chair scrolling through his phone.

Fez startled looking up at the girl who was stood up in front of him. "Wassup kid" He looked up and down at her outfit. "You workin' now or something" 

"Yeah, my sister moved out so making some money to pay for shit and stuff" Fee put her hands in her pocket.

"Oh yeah cool, let me know if you need anything though, if yo need money or sumin like tha I always gotchya" 

"Thanks Fez" Fee smiled wandering towards the back, taking a deep breath before opening the door. 

Ash chucked a little looking up at her, scratching his head as he looked at her leaning against the wall. "How you been, it's been a minute?" he tilted his head. 

"I'm sorry I have ignored you these past few days, I felt like I had to. I don't know, a lot has been going on"

He frowned. "You been dodging me and now you expect me to care? Why you ignoring me in the first place. Wha's goin' on?"

"There's nothing to care about, Salia moved out. Maddy moved in, I got a job" Fee pointed at her apron which  caught his attention for a minute.

He raised an eyebrow. "So what? Your like 17 now, yet you can't spare 10 minutes to text me back or come see me?"

"It is not even that, I felt like I needed a break from whatever this is. Nothing is going anywhere and I don't even know what we are?" 

"What do you wanna be?" 

Fee went read biting her lip, unsure of what to say. "I don't know. Nothing?"

"Is that so" Ash went back to counting his cash. 

"Well I should probably go to work now" Fee straightened herself up trying to seem less taken back by his sudden question.

"You know if you need money, for the house or if there's somethin' you wantin' just say." Ash said putting the money in the microwave.

"It's okay, like I say I have a job."

"What working at the diner?" He chuckled biting his top lip.

"Well what else can I do? Be a lawyer or an engineer. Be for real, at least it's legal."

"Yeah actually you could be" Ash replied standing up, still looking busy.

"Okay well thanks for that. Bye." Fee side eyed the wall.

Ash stopped what he was doing and made eye contact with her for the first time. "Think about it." He held the door open for giving her no time to reply.

Think about what she muttered under her breath shaking her head. Oh. Her tummy did 'the thing' when she realised what he meant. Fez waved her bye.

"Morning lovely. Are you nervous?" Clara gave Felicity a welcoming smile. 

"A bit yes, it's my first time doing something like this." Fee responded with a giggle.

"That's totally normal, don't worry I am here to talk with you and help if you struggle. So your going to be on till and just doing the general job of a 'waiter'. We have a lovely team here, all ran by women. Your our youngest yet! If you have any issues with the customers make sure to let me, Jane,  Mary or Nancy know." Each lady smiled at Felicity as each of their names were called out. 

Clara led Felicity to the front. 

The day went easy, it was nearly the end of her first shift. 2 boys entered. "Hey gorgeous, saw you through the glass. You got a number? Might just have to hit." The boy snorted arrogantly to his friend. 

"No, sorry. Can I get you guys something?" Fee felt uncomfortable but stayed professional. 

"Yeah, you" The other boy grinned.

"Just 2 milkshakes." His friend cut him of. 

"Flavours?" She asked.

"Chocolate" They said in sync

"Any cream?" 

The boy whispered into his friends ear. Causing them both to laugh. Fee already knew it was some sort of rude inappropriate joke made about her. They nodded. 

"Okay be right with you" She said nervously. She passed the order to Nancy at the back. Fee didn't want to make a big deal and cause a scene by telling any of the women so she left it.

The milkshakes were passed to the front. Fee put them on a tray taking them to the table the boys were sat at. "Here you go" She placed one in front of each boy. "That will be $9.50"

They placed 3 10's on the table. "20, for you. Keep the change. Just for you." He winked. 

"Oh, thankyou" She let out a false smile.

She wasn't ungrateful, Fee just didn't want their money. She thought they were rude boys with no manners and clearly are yet to mature.

"How was your first day? Clara smiled passing Fee the money.

"Good thankyou, I will see you tomorrow." Fee took the money walking out the shop remembering to thank her. 

Fee began to count her money $240. Not too bad for her first day, a lot of them being tips. She began to stop by Ashtray before walking home.
