The alarm buzzed insistently, dragging Felicity from a deep, dreamless sleep. She groaned, rolling over to silence the noise. The early morning light seeped through the curtains, casting a soft glow across her room. She lay still for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Today was the first day back at school after summer break, and the thought filled her with a mix of excitement and dread.
The last few weeks had been a whirlwind of emotions. She and Ashtray had spent almost every day together, helping out in the store, going on walks and spending time with each over. Ever since the night at sunset lake, their relationship had deepened.
Felicity hadn't heard anything of Jason and Ashtray hadn't bought it up since the night she confessed the text he sent her, but Fee knew she had to face her fears today. Jason started East Highland again through the summer, today being his first day, she knew he was going to be there. Probably waiting for her to walk bye and shout some nasty remark at her, yet whatever he said about her didn't bother Fee. She knew that if he slipped up on her, he would deal with the consequences. Felicity found it strange Ash hadn't mentioned it, a little too strange. It's as if it never happened and Ashtray would never let anything like that slide.
Felicity stretched and sat up, glancing through the corridor into Maddy's room, Maddy still asleep, her dark hair splayed across the pillow. They had been best friends since they were kids, and living together was like a never- ending sleepover.
In the bathroom, she splashed cold water on her face, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. She smiled at her reflection thinking about Ash. They had been getting along better than ever. Despite the rough exterior he showed to the world, with her, he was tender and thoughtful. He'd be patient, especially during those quiet afternoons in the store where they'd laugh over nothing and share bits of their lives they hadn't told anyone else.
After brushing her teeth and doing her normal routine of showering, hair and light makeup, Felicity dressed quickly, choosing her favourite co-ord and a soft, fitted jacket. Fee made it an annual thing that she would always look the best on her first day back. By the time she had done everything ready for school, Maddy had also used that time to do herself up, looking nearly as good as Fee.
"Morning." Maddy grumbled through bleary eyes, pouring a glass of water for Fee also, sliding it across the table.
"I hate school" Fee whined, accepting the drink, chugging it quickly. "It's so pointless, I know everything I need to know." Fee pulled out her camera, double checking her looks.
"Well senior year, last year of high school." Maddy cheered playfully, in hope to lift the spirit.
"Yupp." Fee popped the P. Fee made herself comfortable on the kitchen stool. "Maddy don't you find it odd that Ash still hasn't said anything to Jason, he hasn't even brought it up to me?" Fee questioned, slumping back.
"Oh yeah, I mean maybe he forget?" Maddy suggested, also sitting back.
Fee quickly shook her head. "No, he wouldn't of forgotten. No way."

The day went incredibly slow, final period felt like forever. Fee stared intensely at the clock waiting for it to hit 3, but the longer she stared, the slower it got. She hadn't heard from Ashtray all day, assuming he was just busy, but he did remind her last name he would be picking her up from school with Fezco. Felicity had seen Jason, whom just gave her a look of lust, making her stomach twist and turn with sickness. Fee quite frankily wanted nothing to do with him, she thought he was disgusting and had no right idea of treating women. He did the unforgivable that night.
Nothing seemed to spread massively over the summer, I got the odd stare and the frequent whisper of "She's with that drug dealer kid." I was used to it though, it wasn't something people would hate on, it's something they would fear. Also, Fee knew nearly all the girls had a little crush on Ash, it made her feel good knowing she was his. Out of all them girls, he chose her.
Jason sat on the other end of the Math class, by the window, keeping him distracted from Fee. Occasionally he would look over, in desire she would be looking over at him. Fee kept her eyes anywhere but him.
Class shortly came to an end, Fee packing her things away, taking a little longer than everyone else. "Fee, I will see you later, Nate is taking me to his." Maddy poked at her, leaving her alone.
At least Ash was taking her home, he was all she needed right now, a shoulder to rest on. Fee was last to leave the classroom as she had to ask her teacher a question on the upcoming assignment, she left to walk towards the back parking lot till a loud sound of commotion came from the other hall, towards the first exit. Usually Fee would just leave and make her way home, just petty freshman girls arguing over boys, but this time she decided to take a look. Pushing through the crowds of people, cheering with their phones out recording. She had a gut feeling, all of a sudden she saw Jason's face being slammed into a locker, a gun pointed to his head by a familiar face, accompanied by Fezco, Mackay and Nate Jacobs. Ashtray.
Suddenly, her breath felt tight and heavy, sight became weary and the world was closing in on her. "Stop, stop, stop!" She heard Maddy scream from the centre. Fee knew she couldn't stand there and act week, this is what he deserved. Fee shoved passed bodies, cursing at them to move before meeting the middle. Blood all over the floors, and a nearly lifeless body in the centre.
"I'm s..orr..y, please..." Jason gasped for air, in pain, cuts and bruises drawn all over him. His eyes searching the crowd, meeting mine. "Tell them.. Fee.. tell them I didn't me.." He couldn't continue his sentence as he received another tough kick from Fezco. She was helpless, she couldn't do anything but stand their and look guilty.
Ash rushed over to Felicity, blood on his shirt and on his face, people cheering at him. He ignored the attention from other, putting his focus straight onto felicity who was on the verge of tears. Maddy screaming at Nate in the distance, making the room only louder. "Get me out of here." Fee sobbed turning her back to him, refusing to look at him. He pulled her by her waist, physically pushing each person away, Fezco not far behind them. Fee buried her face into his chest, hiding her tears, the wet blood transferring to her face.
Ash managed to get out the building, quickly taking her to the car in which Fezco quickly drove away in. Ash tried to keep her occupied, knowing that was not a sight he wanted to see. He felt guilty, not because of what he did Jason, he deserved it, but letting Fee see him in that state. "Shh." He whispered into her ear, pulling her hair back.
