EVERY SMALL TOWN HAD THEIR SECRETS.
Mystic Falls was drowning in secrets. The town sang with blood, with secrets tombs full of the no so dead, with perfect families that aren't so perfect. Every family had their own dirty secret behind the facade of perfectionist. For example, The Kang Family.
Lucky, Perfect and down god given is how the people of Mystic Falls would describe The Kang's. They were beautiful, rich, powerful and popular, everyone either wanted to be with them, or be them, they wanted to lure them into their own family, making them their own. They begged for their attention, falling at their knees, bruising their lips in hopes of being seen by them, bleeding for them.
This feeling of worship began in Ancient Greece and it went on for generations.

EVERY SMALL TOWN HAS DEATH.
On October 5th, 2004 under the full moon, death seeped into The Kang's. Cursed daggers became embedded into Iseul and Yu-Jun Kang, their bodies withered against the daggers, their abilities fading.
