Chapter 21
Laure Ri Daza's Point of View
I don't remember the last time I opened my mouth to say a word. I guess it's been forever, or rather, I only felt that way.
I never told them about my relationship with Hiro, which escalated from just hooking up to him introducing me to his family as his fiancée. I enjoyed my time with Hiro, I'm not gonna lie. But I can't help but feel nervous that I'm going to meet his family anytime soon.
I played with the ring on my finger while wandering my eyes around the place and bore it down to Hiro—who's now so invested on his coffee. When he put down his teacup, he looked back at me.
"Do you remember everything I told you?" He asked and squeezed my hand again. His hands were warm against my palm. I don't know why, maybe because I'm intimidated being inside a big house like this, or it's because of the sudden touching of our skin, or because today is the day that I will meet his family.
"The first time we saw each other was in the restaurant when I mistook you for someone," paninimula ko. We decided to stick with this narrative.
"Then we meet again unexpectedly on the street. We talked and clicked instantly. And that was when you kept on pursuing me," I continue. Hiro looked like someone who would not pursue someone, let alone me. But Hiro insisted on sticking with it. I don't know what his deal is, but he assured me that the idea of him pursuing me is the most plausible scenario.
"And when I finally let you in my life," I trailed my voice when I saw the grin on Hiro's face.
"You proposed. And now we're here." He put his hand on my head and give it a light path.
"Perfect." He muttered and rested comfortably on the sofa. Napataas naman ako ng kilay dahil dito.
"Sigurado bang maniniwala sila sa kwentong pinaghandaan mo?" Takhang tanong ko sa kanya. It sounds so ridiculous.
"Trust me on this one, Laure. My family will even believe me if I told them it was love at first sight." I tried not to be as shocked as possible but failed when my mouth turned into a circle. How incredible would his family be if they believed whatever Hiro said? Is it possible that Hiro was raised in a loving household? Strangely, I wanted to find out. I am eager to know.
It's so refreshing to know someone who's not broken and fucked up on the inside.
"They are all fool for love." Hiro laugh a little, showing me again his perfectly aligned teeth. How can he be so carefree? God! His smiles are contagious.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
"Let's say that falling in love has nothing to do with time, Laure. It could happen in an instant. I could even marry you today if I want it to happen." Hiro stated while narrowing his eyes on me. I deliberately furrowed my brow.
