❀ A DATE ❀

"A date?"
"Yes, Mrs. Singhania. It's a date." He answered.
"And what if I say no?" I questioned softly.
I know a date will mean a lot to the twenty-two year old Miraya when her crush said yes to her. Nevertheless, he never actually asked her out, and whenever I planned for us, he would cancel it saying he has a family dinner to attend or a friends night out and many other reasons.
"If it's a no then" He paused. "We'll order a takeout at home and watch a movie like yesterday." He started with a little sad tone.
"Umm, and what if it's a yes?"
"Is it a yes?" He asked back.
"You cannot question me back, Mr. Singhania. You need to answer me." I specified him.
"It's a surprise, Meera. I cannot share it unless you say yes."
Huh. Why is he like this?
"Yes." I declared.
"Yes? What? Really?" He can hear the shuffling sound in the background now.
"I won't repeat myself again."
"Okay, Mrs. Singhania, as you say. Be ready by four-thirty outside your office. I'll pick you up." He added.
"Sure. So, now tell me, where are we going?"
"Umm, now that's a surprise, wait till the evening, you are going to love it. See you soon, Mrs.Singhania." He declared and hung up.
What?
Did he just hang up on me?
I was about to call him back but Shaiiraa entered my cabin with the files. Giving me her sheepish smile, she settled with her laptop in front of me.
"I'll be giving you some extra hours of work on the weekend." I declared without giving her a chance to reply along with ignoring her puppy eyes, picked up a file and started making notes to make the report further.
We continued our work until it was time to go for the meeting. The meeting went well, along with everyone congratulating me for the wedding.
It was not hard for anyone to notice the nuptial chain and vermilion in my hairline, with my hands filled with red bangles. Even with my white shirt and black trouser along with pairing it with black blazer, the Indian symbols which embrace the beauty of the married woman can never be unseen.
The man in black suit followed me and Shaiiraa as we headed back to my cabin for lunch. Shaiiraa went back to her desk first and joined me shortly, leaving me alone with the man.
"What's your name?" I started with a question to get to know the man better as it's a long timeline of three months as I've to tolerate him.
Kindness should never die within us.
"It's Kabir Mathur." he spoke after clearing his throat.
"Nice name, Kabir." He nodded his head curtly, looking everywhere else but me while walking."So you wanted to be a bodyguard as your profession?" I asked out of curiosity.
I mean I wanted to be a teacher when I was in school and loved the way my teacher taught us, but as I grew up I wanted to be a researcher when I entered high school, but given the time it requires and the condition and low pay in the country, I finally decided engineering as it offered me quick pay if I worked for four years on my knowledge and skill set, and I did it.
