"There's something I've been meaning to ask you," He broke the silence.
I blinked, surprisingly looking at him, "What's on your mind?"
He hesitated for a moment, his hands helding my fingers firmly this time, "I spoke to mom earlier today."
"Kavya Aun- I mean Kavya Maa?" I corrected myself, furrowing slightly at his tensed expression, "Is everything okay?"
Nodding at me, his thumb started tracing small patterns over the back of my hand, "Yeah, everything's fine. Better than fine, actually!" He chuckled, meeting my eyes again, "There's a pooja at Singhania Mansion tomorrow, and everyone wants us to be there."
I froze, "Tomorrow?"
"Yes. It's been a while since we've visited them after moving into our new penthouse. And, Gauri Maa even insisted on staying over for a weekend." He paused, shifting his gaze back to our connected hands, "And, I know things have changed between us, but they'll miss having you over weekends, Meera. You know how much they love you."
I know they've always loved me more than my own family, but now I'm the wife of their only son. I'm the only daughter-in-law of the Singhania family. I'm now more than just Radhita's best friend.
I still remember it freshly, how everyone was shocked at Raghav's confession about our love and his decision to get us married in a week. We could've waited for a month or even a few weeks, but I'm still unaware of his urgency in marrying me in a week itself.
Though his family was shocked, they all still agreed, happily. Kavya Maa and Gauri Aunty were happy to finally see their son getting married at the oldest age, I mean twenty-seven is kind of old. Now, I may understand their happiness as Raghav loved someone else, but it's strange why he didn't even have the courage to tell the woman he loved for such a long time about his feelings. I mean, rejection is one thing, but just because he thought he can't have her, I just don't get him.
I narrowed my eyes on him, starting to find the answer to my question.
I think I know who it might be. And, maybe I still doubt it, it's Amaya.
That's the only woman I think may be out of his league.
"Meera ,"
I stilled, turning my gaze back to our hands, "It's just that it's different now." I confessed, "I used to visit all the time when I was just Radhita's best friend. But, now-"
"Now, you're my wife," He stated, cutting me off.
I nodded slowly, "Exactly, I'm not just 'Miraya' anymore. I'm your wife," I glanced at him, looking back at the previous spot, "I'm the only daughter-in-law of the Singhania family, now. I'm more than just what I was before. And, I feel like when they look at me now, they see me differently. I don't know if that's even a good thing."
He stood up, abruptly untangling our connected hands, making me look at him with a frown on my face, as I saw him pulling out a chair beside me now, and sitting on it.
