Kai POV

Cinder's body fell limp after Thorne grabbed her hand.

"Cinder, can you hear me?" Dr. Erland said rather loudly. She made no move to answer.

"Doctor, is she-?" I leave the sentence un-ended hoping he will finish for me.

"Dead? No. Her cybernetics have taken over and are forcing her lungs and heart to operate, see?" He placed his hand on her chest to show that it was evenly moving up and down. "I believe she is in the equivalent of a human coma."

"You seem very calm." Vargas states after getting up off the floor.

"It's part of my training."

"Your queen is dying. Shouldn't you be at least a little bit frantic to help her?"

"Selene is very strong. Any normal creature wouldn't have been able to save their friends in time and would have passed out immediately after being shot. She's also very smart for knowing to tranquilize your.. guards." Dr. Erland looks at the limp bodies of my guards with his famous frown etched across his face. He turns his back on me and begins treating Wolf who is struggling to get up.

I trot over to Cinder's side and crouch across from Thorne.

"Well look who it is Cinder, lover boy."

Lover boy?

"I hope she knocks you in the head when she wakes up." Scarlet growls while picking at a loose string on her red hoodie.

"Oh she will, wont you sweetheart." Thorne pokes Cinder's nose.

I glare at him, "What are you doing?"

"What does it look like? I'm getting on her nerves while she can't beat me up." He says casually as if that's an every-day topic. "Not to mention no glaring. Cinder's glare is one you do not want to be on the wrong end of."

"It's not like she can hear you or anything."

"Of course she can! At least her cybernetics can, she just cant move is all. Actually, she could probably do that if she wanted to bad enough."

As if to agree with Thorne, Cinder's left hand clenched up ever so slightly.

What would happen if I kissed her? You know.. Like sleeping beauty.

"Ooooooooh!" Thorne cooed and batted his eyelashes. "Puppy love. Dont try and deny it Emperor. I read expressions very well seeing as Cinder's a rather good teacher."

My face is surely turning red. "Yeah? Didn't she teach you any manners or respect?"

"Burn!" Scarlet and Wolf whisper/yell.

I ignore them and brush Cinder's hair back from her face. Her crown has unceremoniously clattered to the floor. I remember that she hasn't had a proper coronation yet, and hasn't received her new crown as Queen. Never would I have guessed that Princess Selene was in my own kingdom slaving away on helpless androids. Now she looked different.

I decide I don't like this different. The woman I see at meetings and conferences is Selene. The wild, humorous lady that isn't hiding herself is Cinder. Two differen't worlds are being shoved into one body, but how long will it be before she must choose one or the other?

"Kaito, they're going to take her to a medical room. Perhaps you should go and inform the public of this accident." Cress suggests. Her hand gently hooks under my arm to encourage me to stand.

"Is Her Majesty alright?" An android that reminds me of Iko asks.

"As far as I know, yes. She was quite stable when I left." I gesture to a gentleman near the front. His appearance proves he is definitely Lunar.
