Chapter 10

Cinder POV

The space craft shot into the sky. It would only take about an hour to get to Earth.

"Ooh I think Kai is going to kiss you, Cinder." Thorne taunted from the Captain's seat.

"Oh, shut up Thorne. He wouldn't even give me a second look." I say, sadly.

"Come on, you know that's not true." Cress soothed me. "At least you can come get your dress on. Please!"

I nod. "Maybe that's not such a bad idea. I don't want to have to use my glamour too much."

I followed Cress into my room. She put me in the most beautiful gown I'd seen yet. It was pitch black and showed live footage of the galaxy. A tiny space ship inched it's way across my torso on it's way to Pluto.

"How does this work?" I whisper with amazement. "It's.. Extraordinary."

Cress smiled "It's weaved with the finest silk and laced with Lunar magic. It was designed to be your coronation dress, but this seemed important enough. After all, it's your first visit to Earth as the queen."

I traced my fingers across the neckline. They slid across as if it was ice. The back of the dress was cut in a V shape and covered in lace. If you looked closely, you could see tiny stars and planets hidden in the strings.

The design gave me curves that I never dreamed could be possible. "Are you sure this is appropriate? It's a little revealing don't you think?"

Cress laughed. "It's not as bad as you're thinking, I'm sure. You've never been much of a fashion person have you?"

I shook my head, "Unless grease designs on a ripped T-Shirt counts."

"Cyborg Head! I hope you're decent because I'm coming in!"
Thorne shoved the door open and stopped in his tracks. He stared at me. I blushed. It was such a weird feeling, blushing.

"Is it really that bad?" I said crossing my arms over my chest.

He shook his head robotically. "Bad? How could you say that's bad? It's stunning."

I blushed even more and a smile grew on my lips. "Cress, do the make-up quickly. I want to watch us land."

For the next twenty minutes, I wasn't allowed to look at myself. All kinds of tools poked at my face, and my hair was pulled and tweaked.

When the mirror was turned around, I was simply shocked. I had simple eye makeup and my hair was in loose curls down to my mid-rib cage, but what drew the most attention was my lips. In the middle, they started with a pastel orange and an ombre effect made them turn deep red on the outside. They looked like a fireplace on a cold winter day.

"Cress, I love it. I hate makeup.. but this is the exception." I touched my finger to the glossy surface. It didn't smudge or dull.

Cress giggled and I did too. I could never be mad with Cress. She seemed like such an innocent child and a sister to me.

"Iko! You can see her now!" Cress shouted.

The padding of skin grafting traveled to my ears. Iko's eyes took one look at me and brightened. "Cinder, you've never looked so queenly." She rushed forward and hugged the life out if me.

I hugged back with the same force. "Iko, we're going to see Kai!"

She squealed. We celebrated and ignored the guys at the door laughing. I laughed too and fell dramatically on the bed. My eyes fluttered shut and I imagined seeing Kai and running in slow motion like in those cheesy old romance movies.
