Yena's P.O.V
I woke up and noticed the empty space beside me in bed. Taehyung was already up.
Grabbing my clothes, I headed to the bathroom and went through my usual morning routine.
Once I was dressed and ready, I made my way downstairs. I found Mrs Kim...I mean, mom in the dining area, directing the staff as they set the table for breakfast.
"Good morning, Mom," I greeted, giving her a warm smile.
"Good morning, dear," Mrs. Kim replied, returning the smile. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, thank you."
Just then, Taehyung and his father walked in from the doors leading from the garden. They greeted everyone and took their seats at the table.
As breakfast was served, Mrs Kim decided to share a funny story from Taehyung's childhood. "Did you know Yena, you wouldn't believe the trouble Taehyung used to get into as a child," his mom began, a twinkle in her eye.
"He once wrapped himself in a white towel, pretending to be a ghost? We still have pictures of it.
I couldn't help but smile at the image of a young Taehyung wrapped in a towel.
And one time, he...."
Her voice trailed off as Taehyung cut in. "Mom, can we focus on breakfast? We need to leave soon, and I have some work with papers to handle."
Mrs. Kim sighed but nodded, and the table fell into a comfortable silence as we finished our meal.
After breakfast, we prepared to leave the mansion. Mrs. Kim and Mr. Kim saw us off at the door. "Don't overwork yourselves," Mrs. Kim advised. "Make sure to take some time for each other. You're newlyweds, after all."
Mr. Kim added, "We know you have a lot with the upcoming project and your responsibilities, but don't rush things."
"And about your honeymoon," Mrs. Kim continued, "plan it according to your schedules. If you don't, we'll book the tickets and send you off without your permission."
Taehyung and I nodded, promising to consider it. We exchanged quick goodbyes and got into the car.
The drive back to our penthouse was silent, each of us lost in our thoughts.
After we reached home, I headed straight to the couch and sank into it, the weight of the morning's events pressing down on me. Taehyung glanced my way before disappearing into his room, the door closing behind him with a quiet click. I sat there for a good minute, sipping on a glass of water, trying to gather my thoughts.
Realizing it was Sunday and Anna, our housekeeper, was on leave, I decided to tackle some cleaning and laundry. I started with the laundry, sorting clothes and loading the washing machine. As it hummed to life, I moved on to dusting and vacuuming the living room. I wiped down the kitchen counters, cleaned the windows, and made every corner of the penthouse spotless. But I didn’t go into his room coz he was there while I was cleaning.
Feeling a bit more accomplished, I decided to cook something. I opted for Japchae. The process of slicing vegetables, mixing the ingredients, and boiling noodles was almost therapeutic. The familiar aromas filled the kitchen, creating a sense of warmth and home.
By the time I was done, it was almost 4 pm. I placed the japchae on the food counter, arranging it neatly. Satisfied with my work, I headed upstairs to shower coz my body was badly tired.
After showering, I changed into comfortable clothes and lay down on the bed. My body ached pleasantly from the day's exertions, and the cool sheets felt inviting against my skin. I had only meant to rest for a moment, but exhaustion quickly overtook me. Before I knew it, I had drifted into a deep sleep.
