The moment the car halted at the airport, you swung open the door and dashed towards the exit. Scanning the crowd, your eyes lit up as they found him:
Kim Seokjin, your best friend since high school, looking as dashing as ever wheeling his luggage.
"Jin!" you called out, waving frantically.
His eyes widened in surprise when he spotted you. "Yena?"
Without a word, you ran up and hugged him tightly before playfully punching his arm. "Ouch!" he yelped, rubbing the spot with a pained smile.
Taehyung, observing from beside the car, was taken aback by this side of you.
Jin draped an arm around your shoulders as you walked back towards Taehyung. "Yena-ya, did you miss my handsome face?" he teased.
You laughed, "Of course! You've been away for a whole year!" You punched his arm again.
Taehyung stood with his arms crossed, an unreadable expression on his face. He watched you and Jin approach, Jin's arm still around you.
Jin noticed Taehyung and pointed at him.
You quickly remembered your manners. "Oh, sorry, this is Kim Taehyung."
Jin extended his hand for a firm handshake. "So, he's your husband, the CEO of Kim Corporations," Jin remarked.
"And this is Kim Seokjin, my best friend," you introduced, pointing at Jin.
Taehyung shook Jin's hand, trying to mask his unease. "Nice to meet you."
You pointed to Jin's luggage. "Let's get this in the car."
With the luggage stowed, you moved towards the backseat to sit with Jin, but Taehyung stopped you. "Where are you going? Sit here," he said, pointing to the front seat.
Not wanting to argue in front of Jin, you complied and took the front seat beside Taehyung. Taehyung listened to the conversation, his hands gripping the steering wheel a little tighter each time he glanced at you two through the rearview mirror.
Jin then spoke up, "Yena, I took such a long flight, and right now I'm starving."
You smacked your forehead, "I'm such a fool! Where should we go to eat?"
After a brief discussion, you and Jin decided on a place. Turning to Taehyung, you said, "Sorry to waste your time, but we have to go for lunch. Could you drop us off? We'll take a cab back."
A flicker of...betrayal crossed Taehyung's face. He hadn't eaten either, and you didn't seem to know this fact. "It's fine," he said after a moment. "I have a meeting with the manager of that restaurant about an earlier sale deal. I can join you for lunch since I haven't eaten yet either."
