"I hope this year will be better than last year." Roxie says as she shakes her head. From the corner of your eyes you see her lips move as she talks on and on. Pulling out both of your earphones, you ask her to repeat herself.

"I said, missy, that I hope this year will be better than last year. Last year sucked! I know one thing, I am not taking Mr. Evan's shit. He better cast me in this fall's musical. He never gives me a chance! He knows I have star potential." Roxie ranted.

"Well I'm sure this year, and next year will be way better than the last two," Quinn chirped in. You were sitting between the two on the plane, going back to Hollywood for school. "The first two years always suck. The last two will be the ones to remember." She winked. "Rumor has it that you," She punched you lightly on your arm, "have a Shakespeare play to audition for right when we get back on campus."

"Oh shit, good luck Y/N. I heard that certain students get to participate in those type of plays." Roxie announced, patting your arm in comfort. You didn't really want to be bothered, or even think about anything other than what had happened before you left home. Justin and Derek were taking over your mind.

A scenario of that day in the park with Derek played in your head. You two watching the sun as it hid behind a bunch of grey clouds. Him getting all fidgety. You asking him what was wrong. He confronting you. Roxie.

You couldn't even look Roxie in the eye. He dumped you...for your best friend. Did she know? Does she know that Derek likes her? Does she know he dumped you?

The atmosphere did feel a little tense. Maybe she did know everything, but was just keeping quiet until you two had the chance to talk. Whatever the cause was, it was mentally draining you. You just wanted to get under the covers, eat ice cream and catch up on some shows on Netflix.

"I hope we didn't scare you with the Shakespeare stuff, you look frightened." Quinn said as she pulled you out of your thoughts. Beside you, Roxie looked at you with caring eyes and placed her hand on your shoulder now. She seemed very inquisitive with you.

"No. It's not that, I'm honored for that honestly." You reassured them both. "Then what is it? You know you can talk to us about anything. We all are best friends here, more like sisters actually." Roxie replied. Her response made you feel a bit better. Maybe she didn't know what was going on? Or maybe she did, and she just wanted to hear it come from out of your mouth.

You hated being in this pensive mood and not let out your feelings to your best friends. You know they would help you get through it in any way possible. Since Derek liked Roxie, it didn't mean she would feel the same way. Anyway though, your mind would always seem to drift to Justin, even with the consequences that would happen.

"Derek broke up with me." The both of them gasp. "When?" Roxie asked. You didn't get a shocked reaction from Quinn cause she already knew. Thank god that she didn't tell Roxie. You'll thank her later for that.

"Why?" She asked again.

'Because he likes you!'

"Because he likes someone, and in my defense, I like someone too, so..."

"What! Spill the tea! Please!" Roxie whined. 'The tea...is you.'

"It just wasn't meant to be." You said. "Sometimes, people come to realization how they really feel about someone. As I realized I liked someone, so did he, but he broke up with me first before I could."

"Oh my gosh..." Roxie sat back I. her seat, shocked. So she didn't know that Derek dumped you.

"Who does Derek like? And who do you like?"

"Derek didn't tell me," you lied. "And I like someone who I met recently. Someone who...saved me from getting robbed, actually."

"Wait what?!" It was Quinn's turn to be shocked and ask the questions. So, you told them the story of when you left the park and what happened after that, but leaving out Justin's name. You told them that you didn't get his name and you didn't really know him.

"So how do you expect to form a relationship with a person you have no information on?" Roxie sighed, again sitting back in her seat. She looked a bit frustrated and perplexed.

"Maybe you'll see him again when you go back home?" Quinn suggests after a while of silence.

"I don't think she will." Roxie interjects. You and Quinn turned to her, furrowing your eyebrows and looking at her with a fixed gaze. "Why you say that?"

"Well this ain't a fairytale. You're not gonna magically meet up with him when you go back home. Sorry to break it to you."

"Whoa, chill out Roxie. You never know, fate has a way of playing with Y/N." Quinn debated.

"Yeah, well you see how it worked out for her and Derek. We thought that they were gonna be together for a long time, but that didn't happen."

"Well." Quinn said, sounded defeated. You didn't say anything to the two of them. You felt bad for lying to them, but you couldn't tell them that it was your mom's boyfriend! It was something that you had to keep to yourself.

"I'm sorry Y/N, I didn't mean it."

You gulped, feeling a bit down about everything. "No, you're right. There's a much bigger chance that I'll never see him again."

And you all didn't speak of it again the whole plane ride.
