"So Justin moved." Your mom confessed over the phone. Your heart dropped a bit. "Wait, what do you mean he moved?" You tried not to sound too worried about him so that your mother wouldn't suspect anything. "Well, he left town. I saw him outside this morning with a moving van. Didn't even say a goodbye to me."

"Aw mom I'm sorry. I told you, you need someone who's mature enough for you. Someone who's gonna stay with you and not constantly give you mixed signals."

"You're right sweetie." She said as the loud doorbell rung from the house. "I'll call you back later to check on you, bye!" She hurried and hung up the phone. You grinned, thinking that your mother was already trying to move on.

Getting hungry, you got up from your seat in the Student Union's rest area and walked to the cafeteria part. As you grabbed a plate, someone else reached and grabbed the same plate. "Sorry." You both said. You looked up quickly at the familiar voice and saw Derek.

"Oh hey..." You blurted out. He smiled. "How's it going." He said as he handed you the plate and grabbed his own. "Good actually, and you?" You asked him while still looking at him. A smirk appeared on his face. "I'm okay. New man in your life?"

"Why'd you say that?" You blushed but quickly covered it up. He chuckled. "Come on, we're friends. I don't want anything to be awkward between us. I just noticed that you were glowing that's all."

"Yeah, well maybe." You said as you walked passed him and to the food. You didn't forget about why he broke up with you. Rumors were going around that him and Roxie were a thing. You haven't talked talked to her in a while. "There's someone I've been talking to lately."

Derek smiled a bit, "Well, as long as he's treating you right I am fine with that."

"I heard that you are dating someone." You said as you finished grabbing everything you needed before walking away. You turned to him with a light smirk on your lips. Will he tell you the truth?

"Ah, kinda. I'm not sure if we are anything at the moment." He admired. "Oh." you said as you started to walk away and to your seat. He followed. "Uh, do you want to hang out soon?" He asked as he watch as you slip in your seat. He didn't sit down but just stood there with his half empty plate in his hands. "I could really use some help on Summer's english paper, if you don't mind."

You smiled and pushed the chair out across from you with your foot. "Does now sound good?" You looked up at him for his reaction. He smiled again, looking relieved.

"Yes." He dropped his bag underneath the table and slid in the seat across from you. You began eating as he started to take out his laptop and notebook.

"How much do you have done?" You asked him. He grimaced, "Uh, does my name count as having something done?"

You sighed. "Derek, the paper is due in two days."

"I forgot!"

"How?" You giggled. You were already done with your paper. You were juggling your work with rehearsals for the play. All you had to do was proofread it one more time.
