First day of class was really interesting. The theatre professor, or teacher started off class with a bang. She, Mrs. Spears, gave you all an introduction about herself and a syllabus of everything that would be done throughout the year. She gave off the vibe of one of those laid back teachers, but also strongly believes that you should do your work. She reminded you of one of your first theatre teacher in middle school.

After leaving the large theatre room while stuffing your theatre folder in your shoulder bag, you heard someone call your name. Turning back you saw the dude that was eyeing you in the room earlier.

"Yes?" You asked him curiously. You thought about if he was going to ask you out because of the way he was staring you down in class. He shot you a friendly smile and caught up with you. "I'm Derek." He said as he held out his hand.

"Y/N." You shook his hand. You both moved out the way so the others could pass on by while walking out the theatre room. "I'm sorry if I creeped you out. I couldn't help it because you're really pretty."

Blushing furiously you turned away from here. "Um, look. I didn't really come here to flirt."

"I'm sorry, I'm just stating something that is true." He said, saving himself. You started to walk away from him. "Wait," he called out. "Do you want to go to lunch with me?"

"Uh," You looked at him and then the floor. "I don't know..."

"C'mon, it won't be us alone, my friends will be there too." He scratched his neck awkwardly. No one was left in the hallway. It was just you and flirty boy. If you passed up this opportunity, you wouldn't make friends with him or with his friends. You had to admit that he was cute and he was trying to get you to spend time with him.

"Fine." You nodded, "Where are we eating lunch?"

He smiled as he started walking with you. "The student union. My friends are there waiting."

You both made your way to the Student Union that was only a two minute walk from the Theatre building. As you walked outside the campus, many other students made their way towards the union for lunch time. Walking inside, you passed the bowling alley room, the babier shop, and a room full of pool tables. After walking down the long hallway with many other rooms, you both finally walked inside the cafeteria.

"Fast food or cafeteria food?" Derek asked as he turned to you. "Cafeteria, not really in the mood for Chick-fil-A or paying for my food." You shrugged. Derek took out his wallet and held it up for you to see. "You sure? I could pay for you."

"Don't and yeah I'm sure. Wanna get some pizza?" You pointed to the bar with the different types of pizza. A smirk appeared on Derek's face, "You read my mind."

After getting your slices of pizza with Derek, he led you over to a table where his friends were sitting - chatting among themselves. You noticed one of your friends from high school and former theatre classmate, Roxie, sitting with them.

"Hey guys," Derek announced his presence to his group of friends. "This is Y/N. She's a Theatre major."

"Hey Y/N." Everyone except for Roxie said. Roxie jumped up out of her seat and hugged you tightly. "Y/N!" She exclaimed, rocking you back and forth. "Hi Roxie." You smiled at her when she let you go. Everyone at the table was staring at you two. "We've known each other for years. We went to the same high school."

"Um actually we're friends." She corrected you. You took a seat next to her and Derek. "Yeah true."

After a first day full of classes, you finally went up to your dorm and rested. While jamming to Today's Hits and sitting around, your phone rung. Your mother was calling.

"Hi mom, how are you?" You spoke into the phone. "Sweetie! It's good to hear your voice. I called to tell you something!" She said excitedly over the phone. You sat back on your bed and waited for her to go on.

"I'm going on a date tonight!"

Your mouth hung open in shock. "What! With who?"

"This guy I met at the bar."

"Oh mom that's never going to work out. Remember what Bryan told you? Guys at the bar ain't worth the time! They only want one thing, sex."

Your mother laughed over the line. "Well it doesn't hurt to mess around."

"Mom!" You groaned. Talking about sex with your mom wasn't pleasant at all. Your mother went on and on about how excited she was for her date. You didn't want to burst her bubble and kill her happiness. Seeing that your mother wasn't all sad about you leaving made you happy.
