I was stuck inside an elevator and I was not alone.

But I wish I was.

"Will you stop making that face? I'm just as miserable as you right now, perhaps more than you. ", came the annoying voice that could scare off a herd of evil kids.

Yes you guessed it right. Kartik .

"It's all your fault. " I jabbed an accusing finger into his back. He abruptly turned around, making me take my hand back in reflex at the icy glares he was shooting at me. Bloody refrigerator.

"It is also my fault that your legs followed me into this lift and your fingers pressed the stop button like you were trying to win a competition of who could press more buttons? Surely, it was ALL my fault. " Kartik was looking at me like my neighbor Nirmala aunty looked at me when I ding-dong-ditched her. I felt like a guilty child again.

"Well, I was just trying to stop you. How was I to know this lift was as weak as you? " I turned my face away from him, my eyes not meeting his.

"Weak ", he grabbed my hand, turning me so that I faced him. I still refused to meet his eyes. He sighed before he left my arm. "We'll continue this later, let us get out of here first. "

I joined my hands together and prayed the god with my eyes closed. "Thank you so much god, you finally gave him some buddhi. "

When I peeked my eyes open I saw annoyance writren on Kartik's face. Ha. Suits him better.

When I had seen his car from the window, I had gone directly in the direction of the parking. He was about to enter the lift when I saw him so I followed him. I could not let him into my office and ruin it for me. This job is my everything, I could not afford to lose it.

Which reminds me.

" Why are you here? " I asked him in the most serious tone possible. But he had the audacity to ignore me. Nobody got to ignore me, especially not this self righteous mosquito.

So I grabbed his tie.

That made him look at me.

"Who do you think of yourself Mr. Kartik Deshmukh, to be walking in my office like this. Do you have any idea how much trouble I could get in if you pulled any prank at this place. Wait,-" my brain relayed the events of today, "-I'm already in trouble. This lift. Us here. Oh god Kartik, why do have make everything so difficult for me. "

It felt like I was speaking to a stone. He was looking at me like he couldn't care less. He wasn't even blinking.
He was making me angry. Very very angry.

I left his tie and snapped two fingers in front of him.
"I'm talking to you Kartik. Are you even listening? "

"Huh", he said. Finally blinking, like he was in some trance before.

This aloof fool.

"So you didn't hear a thing I said . Great. Just great. " I felt like killing him, if only one murder was legal.

"Wait, Your office? You work here? " his tone bewildered.

"No I own it. Ofcourse I work here. " I huffed.

His expressions suddenly changed from confusion to realization and that of disbelief . The only thing I could make out was that he didn't seem too pleased with this peice of information. Infact, he looked like someone dropped a bomb on him or something.

"Oh hello, kaha kho gaye? "

"Tumhari bakwas mei ", he started pacing around the lift, his one hand reaching for his pocket and grabbing a handkerchief. "So Rivaah, tell me the truth. Do you really work here?"
