Rivaah's POV
I am missing my brother.
Terribly so.
Never in twenty two years of my life had I ever been away from my brother on Rakshabandhan. But today was different. My brother was at home, with Mumma and Papa while I was stuck here.
I wish I was with them today. With him.
I had facetimed him in the morning and we had also fought on how he didn't like the Raakhi that I had sent him in courier. He is such a brat sometimes.
Someone came rushing beside me and I gasped at the sudden interruption. It was Vaidehi aunty and she was turning off the stove.
"Rivaah, where are you lost? The tea would've almost overflowed." she said worriedly and only then did I see what I was about to do.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I had forgotten that the tea was still boiling.
Good job, Rivaah.
"I'm sorry aunty, I was just.. " missing my annoying chimpanzee of a brother.
"It's alright, just go sit on the table. I'll bring you the tea. "
"No, no.. I can do it. Don't worry. " I hastily picked up the kettle only to drop it midway, staining the whole platform with spilled, hot tea.
My mother was right when she said that I had holes in my hands.
Who the hell is so clumsy that they can't drink water before spilling it atleast once?
Yes, ladies and gentlemen you're right.
That's ME.
"Areeyy.. " I glared at the kettle as if it had deliberately jumped out of my hand and spilled the tea.
"You're not hurt, are you? "Vaidehi aunty asked and sighed when I nodded a 'no'. "I'll clean this up, you go sit on the table. "
"Aunty I'm sorry, " I began, looking at the floor like a guilty child, "but kettles these days have really bad build quality, I mean I was holding it and it just slipped as if it was a sponge-"
I shut up when I saw her holding the kettle up infront of me, her grip perfectly fine. She raised a brow at me and I was rendered speechless.
Shit.
"I'm waiting outside, byee. " I ran as fast as I could from there.
Thank God.
I was sitting on the dining table, patiently waiting for my tea when the doorbell rang. I was quick on my feet, opening the door at once. But there was no one on the other side. I looked around but found no one, so I closed the door.
The bell rang again.
This time though, I peaked through the peephole but all I could see was black. Was it not working? What use were these fancy doors then?
I opened the door. No one again.
Taking two steps outside, I was about to turn back when a sudden voice startled me.
"Bhooowww"
I fell on the ground in shock, my hand clutched to my heart. Laughter filled the space, and my eyes landed on the culprit behind my traumatic fall.
Who dared.. Oh.
Arth was standing a foot away from me, with Kartik by his side as they both laughed AT ME. Though, Kartik wasn't laughing, he simply had that devious smile on his face making me want to punch him square in the face.
