Kartik's POV :-

Trouble ran like blood through her veins.

It was difficult to have a normal day with her by your side, she'd find a way to mess something up and you'd have to spend your entire day cleaning up that mess. That was Rivaah for you.

I gazed over my side to find her fast asleep, her head resting on the headrest, her mouth a little agape. She looked almost innocent, almost. I knew her and innocent was someone she definitely wasn't. She hid her evil persona behind that pretty face of hers.

Pretty?

My brain was sleep deprived, there was no other reason to explain why such a thought would even cross my mind.

I thought back to the events of today and sighed.

I had such a simple life before a ball of trouble decided to enter it and turn it upside down. She almost got us arrested on her first day in this city, if that doesn't tell one about what kind of a girl she was then I don't know what would.

I heard a shuffling noise and found the guy on the backseat move a little closer to us. More like, a little closer to Rivaah. I saw him reaching out his hand so it rested closer to her face, almost touching her hair.

My hands closed in a fist.

That man seemed a little too happy when we'd disclosed that she wasn't my wife. I hadn't missed his lingering gaze on her since then. Some men are just born bastards. Truly.

I moved my right hand on the headrest, flicking that man's hands away from her hair. He startled a bit and looked away, as if trying to play it off. I simply gave him an icy look.

How dare he?

I hated this kind of men, who thought just because a woman's name wasn't attached to a man's name, they were entitled to do whatever they wanted.

Their audacity was outrageous.

I checked my phone from my left hand but the network still wasn't there. This place was in the outskirts of the town but it still didn't make sense for the network to stay lost this long. I watched out of the window, atleast the road wasn't empty anymore. I searched for a signboard to make sure we were going the right way. We were.

It was extremely uncomfortable in here.

There were more people and little space, the two men besides me were lean, but they still occupied half of the space. Rivaah was practically shoved into that door, if I was to open it right now, she'd fall right off. The thought was tempting but I resisted myself. How could Rivaah sleep like that was still a mystery to me.

I stilled when I felt her shift a little.

Shift a little towards me.

Her head rested on my arm that was on the head rest. I held my breath as her head slid towards my shoulder when the driver applied the brakes.

She heaved a hot breath and my body stilled at the movement.

The driver applied the brakes again, causing Rivaah to nuzzle more into my shoulder, her steady breaths tickling my neck. My shoulder leaned down on it's own accord just so her neck wasn't uncomfortably placed.

Great. I was her pillow now.

Why was the driver applying so many breaks?

There wasn't even a single vehicle in front of us.

I glanced at him but his eyes were glued to the road. My eyes narrowed at the inconspicuous smile playing on his lips.

Strange.
