A/n: i'm so sorry that this took so long to post. Life has been extremely hectic, and it's taken a bit of a toll on my mental health. Thus, this chapter might be a bit wonky and honestly might be a drop in quality, but I'm not giving up on this story no matter what. I love you guys <3 And remember to always keep fighting<3<3

About a few days later, Baby had finally alerted me to Optimus' energy signature. We had still been at the lake, just relaxing as we watched some ducks sit on the waters, roaming around and simply swimming when Baby had all but exclaimed that Optimus was finally here. With no time to spare, Baby and I drove as fast as we could into town, trying to see where Optimus might have ended up. However, as we searched, we came up empty, and I frowned before I told Baby to go ahead and head to the hotel to park and contemplate our options.

"I don't get it. We got his reading, but now it's practically gone again. I don't understand where he could have gone."

Baby hummed, replying as he seemed to scan around the town again.

"Optimus has always been very good at hiding. It's possible he's found a good spot that we can't seem to reach."

I frowned and shook my head, asking.

"But to be able to hide from me? I mean, I'm supposed to be the new Allspark. I don't understand how he can just...bypass security."

Baby snorted, and he offered gently.

"It's possible that Primus could be hiding him until it's the right time."

I grumbled to myself before jolting when someone tapped on the driver-side window. Glancing up, I noticed it was Cade, who was wearing a sheepish smile with a hat upon his head. Rolling the window down, I greeted him with a surprised tone.

"Cade, what a surprise. Taking a venture into town?"

"Sorry to pop up, but I saw that you were out and about. I'm actually about to meet with my...partner...employee?"

Cade whispered teasingly, making me laugh a little as I relaxed.

"I haven't exactly decided yet."

I smiled gently, and I felt a chill run down my spine when the car suddenly jerked slightly, a man sitting up on the trunk of the car.

"Hey Cade, this is nice. You know how much money we'd make off of this bad boy?"

My blood instantly boiled, and Cade had to narrowly avoid getting hit with the door when I kicked it open. A man with curly hair and glasses was bouncing slightly, making the car bounce up and down, and I snarled, making the man turn to me.

"Good thing that the car isn't for sale. Get your ass off of my fucking car before I shove my foot up your flat fucking ass and turn you into a new pair of fucking boots!"

The man turned to me, whistling as he slid off of the car, hands in the air in surrender.

"Sorry, didn't realize it wasn't for sale. You Cade's new girl or something? She's hot, Cade."

The man yelped when the car revved, hot air blasting the man's leg and burning some of his leg hairs, and Cade gave the man a dirty look.

"Are you serious, Lucas? Seriously? She's like 20 years old!"

"That means her hips won't give out when she's on the move!"

Clenching my fist, I began to walk towards him to punch him, and Cade gripped my shoulder, making me wince and pull back immediately when the stitches on my shoulder began to pull, Cade giving me a curious look for a split second as he reprimanded.
