Satoru was overjoyed.

No, that isn't a strong enough word for how he felt right now.

He was literally puking and shitting rainbows, that's how great he was feeling.

You were still not fully healed yet - neither were the kids at school. Satoru was still working with Yaga, Utahime, Mei and Gakuganji (to his dismay), in order to figure out how the curses were able to get past Tengen's barrier.

But today, in the morning, you messaged him, asking if he could come over and watch over Kiyo while you went to jujutsu tech and visited Shoko for a check up and a speedier recovery. (you also wanted to see what everyone else was being so secretive about, and obviously it was best to get Satoru out of the way. but he didn't need to know that.)

And he absolutely had no idea what you were up to, since he was blinded by sunshine and rainbows and the image of his daughters' beautiful smile that looked just like yours!

(Kiyo was absolutely blinding. Her bright eyes and hair with your brilliant smile were so bright that Nanami couldn't look straight at her for the first year of her life. It took a long while for him to get used to it).

Satoru was basically as radiant as the sun right now. The second he walked into the flower shop that he'd bought your bouquet at, even the withering flowers seemed to perk up a little. The shop keeper gazed at him in awe, but she had to quickly look away, her eyes stinging.

"Good morning sir," she struggled, blinking and trying to get used to his brightness. "What brings you here so early? Another bouquet?"

Satoru shook his head. "I don't know if you do this often, but could I get just one flower. I'll pay the same price."

She gaped at him. She should've been used to his riches at this point, but every nonchalant reference that he made, had her shocked all over again.

"You- You really don't have to sir, I can give it to you for free!"

Satoru gasped and immediately shook his head, eyebrows furrowing. "I am not giving my wife a free gift! It has to be worth her smile!"

The shopkeeper spluttered at his words. How in the world could she refute such a statement?

She continued to tell him that price doesn't matter, that it was the thought that counted but the second she passed over the rose he wanted, he slammed a bill on the table. The shopkeeper looked down at it with shaky hands as Satoru thanked her before strolling off.

10 000 Yen.

She almost fainted.

And Satoru? He practically did.

He barely knocked on the door when it opened.

And it revealed not you. Not his daughter. Not even Haibara.

Another man.

Satoru scowled.

"What are you doing in my house?"

Suguru grinned, folding his arms over his chest. "Is this really your house anymore?"

Satoru rolled his eyes, but he bumped Suguru's chest as he passed by.

Suguru chuckled heartily, closing the door and following after Satoru, who fell back on the couch. "So, what're you doing here? Alone? With my child and ... Y/N."

Suguru raised a brow, leaning against a wall as he looked down at Satoru. "Y/N? Just Y/N? Not 'the woman I'm hopelessly in love with.' Or more accurately, 'my ex-wife.' I didn't feel like asking her, but is that official yet? Are you like actually divorced yet?"

"I mean, technically, yeah."

Suguru shook his head, kicking off Satoru's feet from the couch and sitting down. "No, no, no, not technically. Like officially. Recognized by the court, or whatever."

Satoru sighed. "We've been pushing it back," he answered lowly, sitting up. "Work gets in the way, or whatever."

"Oh," Suguru said, realizing something as his eyes widened. "So, you're using work as an excuse to avoid getting officially divorced?"

"Hey, look," Satoru argued. "We're living apart. I go weeks without seeing Kiyo sometimes. We're practically divorced."

"Eh," Suguru shrugged. "You're giving yourself an opening to get back together, right? That's why you're not getting this divorce over with."

Satoru groaned, running a hand over his face. "Dude. I was having a great day. Wonderful, magnificent, sparkling day, even, and I don't really wanna hear you talk and ruin it."

Suguru put his hands up, surrendering to Satoru's tired voice.

"Is it really alright for you to be here?" Satoru asked, after a few seconds of silence. "Where'd you leave your kids?"

Suguru tilted his head towards the backyard. "They're out playing with Kiyo right now. Y/N's got a little while before she needs to head out, so they decided to play around a bit." Suguru sighed. "I'm sorry Satoru, but I have to ask...
