the pair sat in silence still holding onto each other still trying to process what had just happened. after hearing the news, jungkook's parents decided to give them some space before speaking up.
delilah whispered, her voice shaky, "i'm sorry."
"me too," jungkook replied, his tone low and somber. "i mean you must feel some sort of relief, right? since you weren't ready in the first place."
delilah couldn't believe what she was hearing. "what the fuck did you just say? relief? you think i am relieved?" she spat, her voice trembling with rage.
"i just lost my fucking child, jungkook! how dare you say something like that to me?" she demanded, her pain and anger boiling over.
but jungkook cut her off, his voice cold and detached. " a child you didn't want, though." he said, his words slicing through the air like a knife.
delilah felt a pang in her heart. "you do not have the fucking right to speak to me like that." she cried, shoving him away. jungkook stumbled back, his surprised expression quickly hardening into a defensive frown. he walked to the window, putting distance between them.
"but you weren't exactly thrilled about the baby, were you?" he mumbled.
delilah wanted to scream. "of course i wasn't thrilled at first!" she yelled, tears welling in her eyes. "it wasn't planned, jungkook! but that doesn't mean i didn't want the baby!"
jungkook remained silent, his throat tight with the effort of choking back his own sobs. a dry, humorless chuckle escaped him. "lost my first kid, huh?"
delilah stared at his back, tears streaming down her face. "yeah, me too," she muttered.
"what i mean is," jungkook continued, his voice cracking, "you can go back to your normal life now. like you said."
delilah's hand flew out, a slipper launching across the room and smacking against jungkook's back. "get the fuck out!" she screamed, the raw pain and anger exploding out of her. "why are you saying these things?!"
tears streamed down her face as she grabbed anything within reach – a magazine, a box of tissues – flinging them across the sterile room.
jungkook flinched at the impact of the slipper, his face paling. but before he could respond, the door to the room swung open, revealing a startled mr and mrs jeon. "what's going on? are you okay, sweetie?" kara panicked and rushed to delilah.
delilah's sobs subsided into choked gasps, her rage replaced by a crushing wave of despair. jungkook looked down at his shoes, shame flickering in his eyes. "what happened?" ryu spoke directly to his son.
"please get him out of here." delilah pleaded. jungkook opened his mouth to protest, but the sight of delilah, curled up on the bed, her shoulders shaking with silent tears, stopped him. he walked out of the room with his father who pulled him outside demanding answers.
"what the hell were you thinking?" mr. jeon roared, his voice a low rumble. "are you out of your mind to speak to her like that? she just lost a child, kook!"
jungkook, defensive at first, crumbled under his father's harsh tone. "but pops, i lost him too! she didn't even want the baby in the first place."
"did you consider maybe that's a normal reaction when something like this isn't planned?" mr. jeon countered, his voice softening but his words firm. "she needed comfort, not blame. you should have been by her side, holding her hand through this, not arguing."
a choked sob escaped jungkook, he ran a hand through his hair. "i felt him, pops," he confessed, his voice thick with tears. "this morning, we were talking to him. how could this happen?" his father pulled him in his arms, patting his back. "shh shh, it's okay. it's okay."
