The scorching sun of Bahrain beat down on the paddock as Blake adjusted her sunglasses, trying to keep her cool amidst the chaos of media day. The circuit was alive with activity, engineers rushing around, and reporters setting up their equipment. Blake took a deep breath, trying to calm the nerves that had been simmering since they arrived.
"Hey, Blake! Over here!" a reporter called out, waving her over.
Blake forced a smile and walked over, her mind still replaying the words of encouragement and instructions from her PR manager a few days ago. She needed to project confidence, even if she didn't quite feel it inside — answer politely, stay neutral and most importantly stay out of any trouble.
"Blake, first of all, congratulations on making it to F1. How does it feel to be here in Bahrain for your debut race?" the reporter asked, holding out a microphone.
"It's an incredible feeling. I've worked really hard to get here, and I can't wait to get on track and show what I can do," Blake replied, keeping her voice steady.
The questions continued, one after another, and Blake answered them all with practiced ease. However, her mind kept drifting back to her struggles in the simulation room and the upcoming race. The pressure was immense, and despite Lando's strong support, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was on the verge of breaking.
As the media session wrapped up, Blake made her way to the McLaren hospitality area. She spotted Lando lounging in her driver's room on her sofa, casually scrolling through his phone. His laid-back demeanor was a stark contrast to the whirlwind of emotions she was feeling.
"What are you doing in my room?" Blake asked as she put her bag down at the entrance.
"Wow, no 'hey, Lando! How you doing?'" Lando asked, feigning hurt.
