The next day, Blake woke up to the sounds of birds chirping outside her window. The sun cast a soft glow over the room, and she stretched carefully, not wanting to wake Arthur. He lay beside her, his arm wrapped protectively around her waist, just as it always was.
Blake reached for her phone, and noticed the time. It was quite late, it was already about 3:00PM. Blake scrolled and noticed an unusually high number of notifications. Her heart rate quickened, a sense of foreboding settling in her stomach. There was likely something significant released involving her.
Just as she was about to unlock her phone, Arthur stirred beside her, his eyes slowly opening. Blake quickly set her phone down, her attention diverted.
"Morning, my love," she whispered, leaning in to kiss the tip of his nose. Arthur scrunched his nose in response, a small, sleepy smile appearing on his lips.
"Good morning," he replied, his voice raspy and deep from sleep.
They lay in each other's arms for a while, soaking in the warmth and comfort of their shared presence. It was a rare moment of peace amidst the chaos of their lives.
Eventually, Blake's curiosity got the better of her. She gently extricated herself from Arthur's embrace and picked up her phone. As she unlocked it, her eyes widened at the barrage of messages and notifications. She sat up quickly as she looked through her phone.
Blake's fingers trembled slightly as she opened her social media apps. The first thing she saw was a flood of comments and posts about her and Arthur. Her eyes scanned the headlines, and her heart sank as she realized what had happened.
