The Free Practice sessions had been a mixed bag for Blake and Lando.
In FP1, both drivers focused on getting a feel of the Jeddah circuit, warming up to the new change of place and focusing on the tricky parts of the circuit. Blake started the session cautiously, gradually pushing her limits. By the end of FP1, Lando had secured a solid P5, while Blake, still adjusting to the track's demands, finished in P14. Despite her position, she felt more optimistic about it compared to her first race weekend. After that she had a short meeting, noting areas for improvement with her engineer.
FP2 was more intense. The team made significant setup changes to Blake's car, aiming to improve her performance. Lando continued to show strong pace, maintaining his position within the top 10. Blake, however, faced issues with understeer, struggling to find the right balance. She ended the session in P12, a slight improvement but still not where she wanted to be. Frustration started to slowly crept in, but she tried to push that feeling aside as her determination remained steadfast.
FP3 brought the girl hope. With further adjustments and a renewed focus, Blake attacked the session with vigor. She posted increasingly competitive times, narrowing the gap to her teammate. Lando, as consistent as ever, finished FP3 in P7. Blake managed to climb just behind Lando up to P8, finally breaking into the top 10 and boosting her confidence ahead of qualifying.
As qualifying approached after free practice 3, the weather took a turn for the worse. Dark clouds had started to gather over the track, and a steady drizzle began to fall, which later got stronger than expected.
All drivers were forced to wait in the paddock as officials assessed the track conditions waiting for the right time to start the qualifying.
In the McLaren garage, Lando and Blake sat together, waiting for updates while watching and listening to the relaxing sounds of the rain pattering against the roof.. The atmosphere was mixed with tension, relaxation and more for Blake, she was feeling sleepy.
