"Uh, Lando... you don't happen to have an extra shirt I could borrow, do you?" Blake asked as they got ready for another day at the McLaren headquarters. The first race of the season was coming up, and their schedules were packed with meetings and training sessions.
Blake had decided to crash at Lando's the night before because of the heavy rain. Her shirt had gotten soaked and didn't dry properly. Luckily, her sweats were mostly dry.
"I do, one sec," Lando replied, rummaging through his closet for another McLaren shirt. "Here you go. It might be a bit big, but it should work," he said, handing it to her.
"Thanks, Lando," she grinned, taking the shirt and heading to the bathroom to change. As she put it on, the familiar scent of Lando surrounded her. The shirt was a bit big, but not too much. It would do for the day.
"Hurry up! We're gonna be late!" Lando yelled from the dining area.
Blake rolled her eyes. "I wasn't the one who decided to wake up 10 minutes before we had to leave!" she yelled back.
"I normally wake up 10 minutes before. I didn't know you took this long to get ready!" he retorted.
"Okay, okay, done! I didn't even take that long; it was like 10 minutes. I had to figure out how to open your sink; you have a weird sink," Blake said, coming out of the bathroom and fixing her hair.
"What! No! Now you're just making excuses," Lando rolled his eyes.
"Alright, alright, whatever. Let's go," Blake ignored his comment, pushing him towards the elevator with a playful shove.
When they finally arrived at McLaren headquarters, Lando went off to meet with his manager while Blake headed to the gym to get her workout done. She had a full schedule and wanted to squeeze in her gym time before the day got too hectic.
After an hour of leg day, her leg muscles were feeling pleasantly sore, and she checked the time on her phone.
10:30.
"Ah, shit," she muttered, remembering she had a team meeting with Lando, strategists, and others at 10:45 am. She quickly grabbed her things as her mind was occupied with the upcoming race weekend getting closer and closer.
As she made her way through the familiar halls, she could feel the eyes of the staff on her, some curious, others amused. She tried to ignore it, focusing on getting to the team meeting on time.
"Morning, Blake!" a voice called out from behind. She turned to see Mark, one of the engineers, approaching with an amused grin.
"Morning, Mark," Blake replied casually, offering a smile as well.
Mark raised an eyebrow as he took a glance at the shirt she was wearing "your shirt seems a bit oversized on you, dont you think?"
Blake felt her cheeks heat up, eyes widening a little at the question directed at her. "Yeah well, I asked for a size a little bigger you know.. for the look" she coughed awkwardly, trying to come up with a good excuse.
"You sure you didn't borrow it from someone?" Mark asks his grin widening.
Clearly, he was enjoying this, Blake thoguht to herself.
"Maybe. Whats it to you?" Blake rolled her eyes, though she coudlnt suppress the small smile that started appearing.
"Wouldn't happen to be someone named lando Norris, no?" He queried teasingly.
Blake shrugged in response trying to play it cool, but her flushed cheeks were making it quite hard for her. Mark laughed, his laugh echoing through the halls.
Marks teasing was slowly getting to her, and she hoped it wouldn't push any further.
"Shut up stop laughing" Blake shushed.
"Alright, alright!" Mark said holding up his hands in mock surrender "it was just an observation, you two seem close"
"Well we're teammates after all. Been friends for a while now" Blake replied hoping to sound nonchalant as she shrugged it off.
"Right, right just friends." Mark winked with a small smirk "anyways, I'll see you around" mark waved as he turned to an opposite direction.
Blake waved back still hearing his light laughs echo through the halls making a laugh escape from her mouth.
Walking into the conference room she spotted lando already seated in his spot, looking through some notes. He glanced up quickly and took a double take, eyes widening seeing her in his shirt. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"Nice shirt" he said quietly as she took a seat next to him.
"Shut up" Blake whispered back unable to hold back the smile and laugh that once again escaped her mouth.
Throughout the meeting Balke could feel the subtle glances that lando would take at her, filled with a mix of amusement and something else that she couldn't quite place. Despite the teasing of the staff and the curious looks sent to her as she walked around the halls earlier she couldn't help but feel comfortable wrapped with the familiar scent Landos shirt gave.
After the meeting lando caught up with the girl in the hallways. "You know it looks better on you than it does on me"
Blake laughed, shaking her head "Yeah right just make sure I get it back to you without stains"
"Take your time" he said his voice softening as he placed his head just beside her ear "it's yours whenever you need it"
Her heart pounded in her chest. And if she didn't know any better she'd bet her entire F1 career that lando could hear it.
She looked up at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. For a moment, all the teasing and jokes faded away. She felt something she couldn't quite place, something that made her heart skip a beat. "Thanks, Lando," she said quietly, unable to say anything else.
"Anytime, Blake," he replied, giving her a warm smile before they headed off to their next tasks, side by side.
