Was this truly such an odd thing to feel?
Perhaps it was, then again he was never really like the other Angels. Asaph frowned, crossing their arms as they watched the angels converse, it was another group meeting. These were always boring, Asaph never found interest in these meetings but all Angels were called to these meetings, they didn't have a choice. Lucifer and the other Angels were talking about whatever they usually talked about, Asaph didn't pay attention much anymore. His eyes were on the other side of the room, watching a particular Angel bob around.
Aziraphale seemed to be trying to join in conversations but wasn't all that successful. That was quite strange, at least to Asaph, who wouldn't want to be friends with the bubbly Angel? Asaph glanced back at his friends and slipped away, walking towards Aziraphale.
"Greetings Aziraphale, need someone to talk to?" Asaph sided up next to him, nudging shoulders.
"Oh, hello Asaph, yes I suppose so, it's quite hard to join in conversations sometimes." Aziraphale sighed, looking over at Asaph with a small smile.
"Well, never worry, I'm now here to give you company." Asaph grinned, gesturing Aziraphale to follow him over to an open wall.
"Good, I was going to talk to you but I saw you were with your friends so I didn't want to bother." Aziraphale hummed, glancing over at Asaphs friend group.
"Nah don't worry about it, they talk to themselves more than anybody else." Asaph chuckled, leaning up against the wall, Aziraphale following suit.
"Huh, why do you hang out with them?" Aziraphale asked, tilting his head curiously.
"They're the first group of Angels I got along with because they shared the same ideals as me." Asaph shrugged, looking down at the floor then back at Aziraphale.
"Huh, I thought you would have made more friends than that." Aziraphale hummed, keeping his gaze on Asaph.
"Well, I have you now so I'm not looking for anymore friends." Asaph smiled, earning a warm smile back.
"That's sweet of you, I promise we'll always be friends." Aziraphale turned his head to look back out at the crowded. Asaph looked down at the floor with a small frown.
"Yeah." Asaph nodded, bitting lightly on the inside of his cheek. "After this meeting, can I talk to you for a bit?" Aziraphale looked up at Asaph curiously and gave a small nod
"Sure, is something of the matter?" Aziraphale tilted his head, sounding slightly worried.
"Ah, no, just something on my mind I wanted to share." Asaph gave an encouraging smile, crossing his arms behind his back.
"Very well then, I will head to your desk as soon as I can." Aziraphale dipped his head, moving off the wall. "I have a meeting I need to attend, I will see you after." Asaph waved as he watched Aziraphale walk off, only just now realizing the group meeting had ended. He shrugged and left the room, heading back over to their own desk. They sat down and flipped through their folder as they waited for Aziraphales meeting to end. It felt like forever before Aziraphale appeared next to Asaph.
"Sorry for the wait, what did you need to tell me?" Asaph got up from his seat and set their folder down on the desk.
"Promise me you'll still be my friend if you don't feel the same." She started, flicking her wings in closer to her body.
"There's nothing you could say that would make me not want to be your friend Asaph." Aziraphale started to get worried as Asaph looked down and then back up again.
"Right, so, the thing is.." Asaph bit down on their bottom lip and looked away. "There's this- feeling? I guess, that I only feel around you and something makes me want to always be around you no matter what." He sputtered, unsure of his own words and not knowing if they even made any sense. Asaph looked back up at Aziraphale who looked particularly red.
"Ah, I see." Aziraphale gave a warm smile, shifting in his spot. "I'm not the only one then." Asaph blinked, tilting his head.
"What do you mean?" They asked, slightly confused.
"I get that same feeling too, not wanting to be around anybody but you." Aziraphale smiled, moving one hand to hold Asaphs.
"Do you?" Asaph let out a sigh of relief, relaxing a little.
"I do, I don't know why I feel like this but I don't think it's a bad thing." Aziraphale stared at their hands and then looked back up at Asaph.
"Oh thank goodness, I thought you were going to think I was weird and run away-" Asaph chuckled lightly, not knowing where to look.
"No, no I would never leave you like that, even if I didn't feel the same." Aziraphale rubbed his thumb lightly over Asaphs hand.
"That's a relief, I'm at least glad you feel the same, that makes me feel better." Asaph leaned up against his desk, making sure to not accidentally let go of Aziraphales hand.
"Well, now we've cleaned that up.. you wouldn't mind if I hung out with you for a while?" Aziraphale asked nervously.
"Of course you can hang out with me, you could stay by my side for the rest of eternity and I wouldn't care." Asaph pulled Aziraphale in a little closer and gave him a comforting smile.
"Good, that's quite wonderful." Aziraphale gave a small nod, moving around to stand next to Asaph with their shoulders brushing.
"Just let me know if you have any meetings, and when you have to leave to live down on Earth." Asaph looked out from his office.
"Oh, right, I forgot I was going to move down to Earth.." Aziraphale sighed, looking down at the floor.
"Hey, I told you we would stay in contact and that's not changing, I'll visit you as often as I can." Asaph turned back to Aziraphale, studying his face.
"Right, yes, of course, I look forward to your visits." Aziraphale smiled brightly, tilting his head to rest on Asaphs shoulder. Asaph smiled, looking back out again, thinking about how much their lives will change once Earth has been created.
