It was yet another day of hanging out with Aziraphale.
What else was Crowley supposed to do? It's not like he had demonic things to do to get back on Hells not despised side. Well, particularly Crowley didn't care how Hell viewed him so long as they weren't planning on killing him. So he continued to spend his days being a nuisance to Aziraphale as he always had. Today, however, he was being more or less quiet while the Angel reshelved books.
"Must you reorganize your books every day?" Crowley raised a brow slightly, sitting awkwardly in a chair as he watched Aziraphale walk around with a giant stack of books.
"I do not recognize my books every day." Aziraphale glanced over at Crowley, putting away a few of the books he had. "I do it once every week or so to make sure I remember where everything is."
"Can't you find another way to remember where everything is? Like labels above each shelf." Crowley frowned, swaying his feet.
"I've been able to organize my books like this for years Crowley, I don't see why I should change it now." The Angel disappeared and returned a few moments later with even more books.
"How do you even come up with this many different ways to organize books? This is just becoming impressive." If he was going to be honest, Crowley had always found watching Aziraphale organize amusing. He never seemed to run out of ways to organize, Crowley was certain he was going to continue like this forever.
"It's called being creative my dear, I've had over 6,000 years to discover new ways to do something." Aziraphale hummed, setting down the stack of books on his front desk. "I have this last stack to organize, then why don't we go do something." Crowley let out a soft note of agreement, crossing his arms and closing his eyes while he waited. It's not that he couldn't do something by himself, he just found it boring and needless. Besides, hanging out with his angel was way more entertaining.
He's been alive for over 6,000 years, it's bound to get boring doing the same thing over again by himself. Crowley frowned as another thought creeped up into his head, maybe he was just scared of being alone. Him? Scared of being alone? Demons weren't supposed to be scared of anything, and certainly not being alone. He slept by himself in his own home, how stupid of him to even think he was scared of being alone.
"Crowley?" Aziraphale called from the other side of the bookshop.
"Yes angel?" Crowley opened one eye, attempting to look in the direction of his voice.
"Are you sure you're okay just waiting? I feel bad taking so long to finish." Aziraphale walked back into view, looking over at Crowley.
"Don't feel bad angel, I'm perfectly fine just sitting here." Crowley replied, opening both his eyes to get a better view of Aziraphale.
"Okay.. it should only be a few more minutes and then I'll be ready." The Angel disappeared back to wherever he came from as Crowley slumped into his seat even more. He didn't mind that Aziraphale was taking a while, he just wished the time they spent was more actual hanging out and not waiting around. Crowley tapped his leg lightly as he waited, staring at the ceiling absentmindedly. A few more minutes went by and Aziraphale finally returned.
"Ready my dear?" Aziraphale asked, brushing his coat.
"Yes, finally let's go." Crowley swung his legs around as he stood up, grabbing his sunglasses from their designated spot and putting them back on. The two left the bookshop and got into the Bentley, Crowley taking a while to fix its radio since all it wanted to play was Good Old Fashion Lover Boy.
"Where do you want to go? We could go to the park, or head over to the Ritz, or try a place we haven't been to before." Aziraphale watched Crowley fix the radio, although 'fix' was more like muttering threats to it.
"Piece of fucking... There's a nature preserve not far from here we could visit." Crowley suggested, finally getting the Bentley to play something else.
"That sounds like a great idea, let's go there." Aziraphale nodded, mentally preparing himself to get hurdled down the street at 90 miles an hour. Crowley buckled himself in and started down the road towards the nature preserve. The drive was about 10 minutes, would have been 15 if Crowley drove the speed limit for once. They easily found a spot to park in and got out, stretching a bit as they looked around it was a very large forest that was filled with the sounds of birds chirping.
"What do you think angel?" Crowley looked over at Aziraphale, leaning up against the Bentley.
"It looks beautiful, I can't wait to see what's inside." Aziraphale smiled gently, scanning the line of trees. The two started down a dirt path they had found, Aziraphale pointing out anything that caught his eye and Crowley giving pacient and happy nods. It was certainly very beautiful, the further in they went the more animals and flora they spotted. Spotted deer, squirrels, lizards, lilies, roses, and hydrangeas were just a few. They eventually found a very large river that flowed through the forest and decided to check it out. Aziraphale crouched down next to the waters edge while Crowley hung back, sitting atop a large rock that let him see most of the surrounding area.
"Crowley look! There's little baby fish swimming in the shallow parts!" Aziraphale called in a gleeful tone, turning his head to look over at Crowley.
"Probably salmon, aren't they the ones with the weird life cycle?" Crowley looked down towards the water, narrowing his eyes.
"Yeah I think so, not actually sure what that Angel was thinking when we were talking about fish." Aziraphale shrugged, turning back to the water. Crowley shut his eyes slightly as he felt the sun warm his skin, it was going to be fall soon which meant it was getting colder outside. He hated the cold, before heaters were invented he purposefully spent most of his time in very warm climates. Of course that also meant he didn't see Aziraphale as often since the Angel didn't mind the cold. Crowley let out a small sigh, leaning back against his hands with his eyes still closed.
They hadn't noticed Aziraphale had climbed up onto the rock next to him until he felt something brush his arm. Crowley opened both his eyes and look to his right, spotting his angel resting with his eyes closed as well. He smiled slightly and closed his eyes again, shifting himself to be closer to Aziraphale. The two of them sat like that for a while, basking in the sunlight and in each other's presence like it gave them both life. Would this moment last forever? No, but Crowley knew their bond with last forever, and that was enough for him.
