Asaph finally got the meeting with the Almighty.
Aziraphale promised to read Asaphs paperwork while he was gone so he had one less thing to worry about. He made his way to the meeting, making sure he looked extra presentable and put together. Theoretically the Lord would listen to him if he looked more important. Asaph combed a hand through his hair and passed by the Angel standing guard into the meeting room.
There, the Lord sat patiently on the other side of the room at the end of a very long see through table.
"Greetings Asaph, take a seat." The Lord gestured to the seat closet to Asaph, which he took. "I hear you want to discuss Earth." Asaph sat up as straight as she could and gave a firm nod.
"Yes I do, and I have concerns." Asaph folded his hands and placed them in their lap.
"You may speak." The Lord dipped their head patiently.
"Well, the placement of Earth- it's not exactly- the best? I mean, it's in a corner, the 'people' wouldn't really be able to see much." Asaph forced herself to maintain eye contact with the Lord.
"Are you questioning me Asaph?" The Lord asked calmly which sent shivers throughout Asaphs being.
"No, I'm simply trying to suggest something, wouldn't it be beneficial to move Earth to the middle of my nebula so everything is more visible?" Asaph blinked, trying to appear as calm and collected as possible.
"Would you be suggesting I'm wrong?" The Lord asked another question, Asaph felt uneasy, she expected answers not questions back.
"I'm not, I just think-"
"No need, Asaph, I know what you're saying." The Lord interrupted, holding up a hand. "You're excused." Asaph narrowed their eyes as they got up, giving a small bow before turning around and leaving. He didn't even get to get to their main point and he's already been thrown out. Asaph frowned as they headed back to their desk. Aziraphale was still there, reading through the stack of papers.
"Hey." Asaph swung around to stand next to Aziraphale on the other side of the desk.
"Back already are you? How did it go?" Aziraphale stopped what he was doing and looked up at Asaph with a worrying gaze.
"Couldn't have gone better." Asaph lied, giving Aziraphale a small warm smile. Aziraphale returned the smile and turned back to the back of papers.
"This seems to be the same stack I received, some things changed but I think that's just the difference in ranking." Aziraphale shifted through the papers and handed the ones that needed to be filled out to Asaph.
"Do I have to fill all this out?" Asaph frowned, looking at the papers.
"Yes, every Angel has to fill them out." Aziraphale moved the rest of the papers off the desk and stood up. "You don't need these anymore so I'm going to put them with the others, I'll be right back." Asaph watched Aziraphale leave with the stack of papers and sat down at his desk with a sigh. It didn't take long for another Angel to appear in place of Aziraphale, but Asaph wasn't expecting to see Lucifer.
"Hello Asaph dear." Lucifer smiled brightly, looking down at Asaph.
"Greetings Lucifer, need anything?" Asaph stood up from his seat, even standing up Lucifer still needed to look down, the Angel was quite a bit taller than the others.
"I would like to talk to you about something, I trust you won't tell any others what I've told you unless you know they're on our side." Lucifer had a smirk plastered on his face, leaning down slightly to be closer to Asaphs height.
"Our side?" Asaph tilted his head, taking a small step back from Lucifer.
"The Angel who are like you and I, the ones who don't agree with how this is being ran." Lucifer folded his wings back and glanced out where Aziraphale had disappeared. "Your little friend isn't one of us, you know that." Asaph frowned deeply, following Lucifers gaze.
"What do you need to talk about?" Asaph crossed his arms, waiting for Lucifer to speak.
"Hmm well you know Earth is being created soon, me and another group of Angels were thinking we should steal it." Lucifer let out a low chuckle. "And then destroy it, stand up for what we think is right, they can't tell us what to do."
"Wouldn't that cause a fight?" Asaph blinked, slightly wairy of what the Seraphim had planned.
"Not just a fight my dear Asaph, something bigger, and it's all a part of the plan, it's our chance to change things." Lucifer held out a hand, his long thin fingers flat out in greeting. "What do you say? Are you going to join us on our fight against the Almighty?" Asaph hesitated, staring at Lucifers hand. He didn't want Aziraphale to get hurt if he got caught in the fight. They also knew Aziraphale would never join their side, so how would he protect his friend? Asaph shook his head and lightly pushed away Lucifers hand.
"You can do what you want, I won't tell anybody or hurt anybody who is with you. But I can't, I don't want Aziraphale getting hurt so I'm staying with him to protect him." He replied in a firm tone, keeping his gaze on Lucifer.
"Very well, our side will not hurt you, I will make sure they know you are to be left alone." Lucifer stared at Asaph for a moment longer before slinking off. Asaph stayed deep in thought about what he heard, not even realizing when Aziraphale had returned and was just starting at him.
"How deep in thought are you?" Aziraphale asked, making Asaph jump out of his seat.
"Goodness- how long have you been standing there?" Asaph scrambled to stand back up, brushing themselves off.
"Some time, what are you thinking about?" Aziraphale walked over to stand next to Asaph.
"Nothing important, just what will happen after Earth gets placed." Asaph hummed in reply, forcing himself to look at Aziraphale even though looking at the Angel makes him sick with the idea he could get hurt.
"Hm, I'm sure everything will be okay, no need to worry." Aziraphale gently took Asaphs hand to comfort him. But what if nothing will ever be okay after this?
