Arun's POV:
As I entered my room, removing my wrist watch, I switched on the lights, placed the watch on the dressing table, and opened my wardrobe to retrieve my night clothes, which is a T-shirt and a track pant, my eyes landed on a square shaped sticky note on the locker door. It was strange and something was written on it. As I narrowed my eyes on the letters on it, wondering what it was, it read, "Mama, sorry for opening your wardrobe without your permission. But I know you will open the wardrobe as soon as you come back. So I pasted it here. You have a surprise gift from me. To know the surprise, check the bedside table."
"Tiny..." I murmured, a smile appearing on my face. I didn't care what her gift was, but I liked her dramatic way of gifting surprisingly on a just another normal day. It felt like she tried to make a normal day into a special occasion which increased my love for her and my heart fluttered like a teenage boy.
I turned towards the bedside table, leaving the wardrobe open, but I couldn't find anything on the bedside table other than a water bottle, Diya's photo and a book with some English title.
Did she gift me a book?
No, she knew very well that I suck at reading. While books would be a great gift for others, books would be a boring gift for me. It might be Srisha's book as I had seen Srisha reading a lot of books. Angel might have got it from her to read.
Then where was my gift? Did I miss anything?
I narrowed my eyes at the table, my eyes scanning the table, and then I found a little piece of paper that was kept below the book.
I thought the gift was a letter and grabbed it immediately, but it read, "Sorry, mama. The gift is not here. The gift is on the sofa. Please check the sofa."
I laughed lightly, thinking, "Tiny is also becoming a child, it seems. Playing treasure hunt with me," and turned towards the sofa.
The sofa was empty, only Mahi's lavender colored teddy bear which was bigger than Mahi and Pari's pink teddy which was almost the same size as Pari were sitting there together just like our daughters. I took those teddy bears in my hands in search of the gift and found a small sized rectangular box, wrapped in a red shining paper and a white satin ribbon.
I smiled and picked the box. The labIe read, "To my mama."
I didn't know why, the boring endearment 'Mama' felt as if it was the best endearment in the world when the word 'my' was added before it. The dead butterflies got life in my tummy, my smile brightening as I unwrapped the box slowly and carefully without damaging the cover, as I wanted to treasure even the cover.
Once I unwrapped the cover and the cardboard box, I saw a cute, little wooden rectangular box on which it was carved, "You are my destination where my life begins. With love, Angeline."
Those words made my eyes well up. I didn't know why she loved me that much, but in that moment I felt her love was a more precious gift than the gift I was holding in my hands.
I blinked back my tears, opening the wooden box, and found three heart shaped wooden guitar picks, on which it was carved,
'I found you like the music finds the air. Naturally.'
'You are my everything.'
'You are enough.'
That was the cutest gift I have ever received. Apart from the guitar picks, which was the great choice for me, each carved word reflected the depth of her love, which embraced me like a breeze, my heart swelling with emotions. I wanted to meet her immediately and hug her. Placing the box back on the sofa, I rushed out of the room. But my legs abruptly stopped when my eyes landed on the two similar wooden boxes of various sizes on the study table.
