Arun's POV:

As the phlebotomist left, after taking the blood sample of Angel, I took her head to my lap again, and leaned back on the bed, closing my eyes with almost no thoughts in my mind. There was only silence. Inside me and outside me.

I didn't know how many minutes had passed, but suddenly my legs felt a movement, and my ears caught Angel's feeble voice, "Mama..."

I immediately opened my eyes. Both of my hands were on her head. She looked up at me from my lap, the smile on her face overpowering her weakness. That gaze and smile were different from her usual smile and gaze. She looked at me like she admires sunrises.

I smiled. "Why are you looking at me like this?"

"You are looking handsome, mama," she said in a feeble voice. "Like a real man. Looking at you, my stomach feels as if I didn't develop a fever, but ton of butterflies."

I passed a puzzled look at her as she never spoke like that to me. With that gaze! With that tone! With those words as if she was talking to her lover which sent a panic attack through my spine. "Hey, what happened to you? Have you got any brain changing fevers?"

"I don't know. But I'm feeling better. Feeling new." She smiled. "Though I didn't have consciousness, I was subconsciously active. I know everything that happened here. I guess I developed a crush for you."

I took a deep breath, relaxing myself. "Oh...Is this the reason you are speaking like a serial heroine? What about Santhosh? Kicked him out of your crush list?"

She shook her head. "No. He is also on the list. We can have many crushes. My friend Renu has almost 30 crushes."

These words relaxed me completely. I smiled. "Okay. But I will be happy if I am on your friend list. Not a crush list."

"You are a friend, too. Mom, too. You are everything. I know a crush is temporary. This crush will fade away. But you will be in my heart forever." She smiled.

"You too will be in my heart forever." I smiled. "Tell me how is your health now?"

"Better."

"Why didn't you call me during the initial stage of fever itself? If you called me earlier, this would have not happened. You made me terrified." I furrowed my eyebrows.

She pouted, her eyes holding innocence. "I felt a light headache during yesterday's dinner itself. But I thought it may be because of continuous studies and came to rest. But I started to feel feverish in the middle of the night. How to disturb you at midnight?"

I narrowed my eyes. "Understand a thing. Your calls are never a disturbance to me,"

"Yes. I know. But I thought to wait till morning. But I couldn't wake up in the morning."

I sighed. "See...Sometimes, delaying is the best option to save us from regrets. But delaying to convey a health problem may end up life threatening. Don't ever do this again. Even if you feel a little discomfort, convey it to me or any one of our family."

She nodded. "Okay. But how did you come inside the home? I remember I locked the door."

I let out an awkward grin. "I used hairpins and unlocked the door from outside."

"Criminal mama." She furrowed her eyebrows, her lips carrying a smile. "Sometimes, bad habits, too, help us."

"Yes. Learn bad habits. Never use it to spoil yourself. Use it to save yourself or others." I laughed.

"What a golden words!" She laughed lightly.

"Okay. Get up. Let me bring something for you to eat," I said. "What do you want? Porridge...."
