Arun's POV :

The day descended into nightfall. Our home was enveloped with melancholy and silence again. Just like how our home looked after Diya's demise. Appa and Vijay couldn't locate Angel till night 9 o'clock despite their exhaustive searches around the city. When Pari asked about Angel while having her dinner, Amma managed her by saying she left for a relative's home and will come back soon. Pari was upset but Amma's reassuring words comforted her. Mahi's eyes started searching for Angel, blabbing, "Maa... Maa..."

My entire being had turned numb by the weight of extreme guilt, extreme pain and extreme love. I thought she would have left for her friend Renu's home or any churches or temples or orphanages. But Renu didn't know anything about her. Vijay and Appa searched for her in every possible way. But she was nowhere to be found. Her safety was the biggest question mark which knotted my throat, threatening me to death. I regretted every word of mine with her and wished to go back and take back my words. But how could I do it?

I was just sitting on the sofa, intertwining my fingers, staring at my own foot. My mind was blank. My heart was full of love with the weight of guilt. My whole body felt as if someone was piercing me with broken glass pieces everywhere. I really didn't feel this much pain when I separated myself from Diya and settled in an orphanage. The moment I realized my love for Angel, I felt the same pain of love just like I felt for Diya. But as time passed, the pain of this love was getting stronger and stronger. Now my love for Angel felt different from my love for Diya.

I realized, love may happen twice. But not in the same way, not in the same intensity. Maybe, this pain of love felt stronger because Angel broke the strongest metal wall I built around my heart, keeping my precious Diya in, locking the path for any others. As she broke the strongest wall, losing her pricked me with the strongest pain. Despite the strongest pain, there were no tears in my eyes. I was sitting like a statue, totally numb.

At about 10 o'clock in the night, Vijay stormed inside the home, yelling at me. "Anna, if something happens to her, I won't spare you."

"Vijay, children are here. Reduce your voice first." Appa yelled, walking behind him, shifting his eyes to me.

His eyes were holding an enrage as he snapped, "Arun, what you did is something unforgivable. Angel's mom bestowed her under the care of me. She took her last breath, joining my hands with her hands, with the trust that I will take care of her. She is a young child. She left without even money in her hands. Is she safe?" His voice shivered. "This world is cruel for women. We are living in a society where even the babies get sexually assaulted, get in the web of women trafficking, etc... I am hell scared."

My heart thundered, hearing his words and I gripped my shirt over my chest. But somewhere deep in my heart, I believed, "No. No one can touch her like that. She will burn them even if someone thinks to touch her." I gulped, taking a deep breath to fill my lungs which were losing the air.

Amma moved close to him and pressed his shoulder. "Krishna, we will find her. Don't worry. She will be safe somewhere. Did the police find at least a clue about her?"

He ignored her words, rubbing his teary eyes and yelled at me. "Because of you, my promise is broken now. I have seen people who break their own promises. Even I myself broke some of my promises out of helplessness. But for the first time I got to see a person who breaks others' promises. Who the hell are you to hurt a child who is no one to you, but my responsibility? I told you many times if you are going to hurt her, stop speaking with her. I told you many times, if someone enters our life, try to give good memories. But the letter clearly says you told her something like you and her have nothing personal. You just used some words and slept peacefully. But damn it! You never know your words may push the opposite person even to permanent sleep. The word which seems simple to you may seem the biggest to the opposite person. Who the hell are you to hurt a person when she has nothing personal with you?"
