Long chapter ahead 😭❤️
Arun's POV:
As I parted my eyelids open, I found Mahi and Pari in our room, Mahi sleeping near Angel and Pari near me. Angel and I were hugging each other in the center of the bed, Mahi hugging Angel's back and Pari hugging my back in corners.
I had no idea when they came to our room, but I was startled and sat up hurriedly to check whether Mahi would fall down as she was in the corner. But when I had a clear view of Mahi, I couldn't help, but laugh. Because she was clinging to Angel's back like a lizard on the wall, one of her little hands wrapped around Angel, one of her little legs crossing over Angel's hip. Once I confirmed Mahi was safe, my eyes landed on Angel's waist which was exposed, because of her crumpled saree in sleep.
Was it waist or a partially peeled litchi fruit? I mean, the way her glowing skin peeked through her crumpled pink saree resembled a partially peeled litchi fruit, attracting my eyes, my heart erupting with a sudden race. My eyes halted on her waist for a second, and then I turned my gaze away with flushed cheeks, ruffling my hair. "If the angry bird knows my mind voice, she will apply chili powder on me, fry me in hot oil and serve me to crows." I murmured, grabbing the bed sheet, and covered her without turning my eyes to her.
Pari sat up by now, rubbing her eyes. "Good morning, pa," She greeted.
I turned to her and smiled. "Good morning, ammu ma. When did you come here?"
"Mahi papu started crying, asking for amma by early morning 5. Nana, Nani and I woke up, too, because of her cry. Nana called your mobile. But you didn't attend the call. Then Nana brought us here. The door was opened. Mahi immediately hopped on Amma and slept. I slept near you," she explained.
"Oh." I nodded with a smile.
"Why did you and Amma leave us with Nana and Nani, pa?" She asked.
"That... Amma and I had some personal things to talk about. If we are talking while you both are sleeping, it will disturb you na? That's why we left you with Nana and Nani," I said. "But hereafter, we will sleep together as always."
She nodded her head. "And appa, our annual day is approaching. Our madam suggested me to join the dance programme. Shall I join?"
"Okay." I agreed. "Whatever you wish."
She nodded her head excitedly and then frowned out of nowhere. "Appa, yesterday a boy came with an owl na? He teased me. I don't like him at all."
I couldn't believe Anbu teased her. I looked at her puzzled and asked, "What did he tease you?"
She pouted her lips, flaring her nose. "I was wearing a half saree na? It was difficult even to carry it. With that difficulty, I danced with Mahi in the reception. He laughed at me as if my dance was a joke."
I laughed, pulling her cheeks affectionately. "Ammu ma, your dance was really cute, yet a little funny. Even Angel and I were laughing. You didn't notice us."
She narrowed her eyes, resting her hands on her waist, staring at me, which made me change my statement, "No no. I just joked. We didn't laugh. You danced beautifully. Maybe it felt funny to Anbu and he laughed. Not to tease you deliberately."
"Anbu? Who is anbu?" She asked, puzzled.
"That boy who had the owl."
She twisted her lips. "Anbu (love)??? The boy who doesn't know what love is has a name with the meaning love. Ironic and funny."
I laughed. "Ammu ma, why are you hating him? He is a good boy."
She pouted with a shrug. "I don't know. But I don't like him as he laughed at my dance. I hate the people who are just spectators but criticizing or teasing the participants. The mouth and eyes are only not enough to criticize, they should have the skill to participate too. Sree aunty cried just because of these kinds of people some weeks ago. They know to make others cry only." She sighed and then admitted proudly, squaring her shoulders, "But I didn't cry about his laugh, pa. I am a strong girl."
