Edgar's pov:
The next day went smooth and after school we headed to the arcade as planned. We had to get on a bus, because the mall was quite far away.
-Ugh I hate the mall! It's so peopley. -I rumbled with my arms crossed.
-Come on it's not gonna be that bad! -Bibi assured but I just rolled my eyes.
The bus was shaking as we advanced forward on the road, occasionally coming to a halt at a red light. The roads aren't even that bumpy, it's this trash vehicle that's trying to fall apart under us! After a few minutes of this rollercoaster, we finally arrived to the mall. To say that a lot of people got off here would be an understatement, the bus literally EMPTIED as soon as the doors opened.
We all walked along with the crowd, trying not to lose each other in the horde of people. Chester managed to grab onto the end of my scarf, just making sure that we stick together, but I just rolled my eyes since the constant tugging around my neck was pretty annoying. Once we finally entered the mall building, we quickly stood to the side to catch up with our lost group members.
-So uhm where exactly is the arcade? I haven't been here before. -Chester asked.
-Well we'll have to look around, because I have no idea where it is. -Bibi chuckled, and we started heading further into the mall.
-Isn't that it? -Fang pointed to a dark room full of various colored lights.
-Looks like an arcade to me! -Chester laughed and started skipping towards the room as we followed.
Entering the arcade, we were immediately greeted by a nice vibe by all the colorful lights in the otherwise dark space. Fang and Bibi did the talking at the front desk, getting us coins, while Chester was hopping around in excitement pointing at different machines he wanted to try. I had to admit, he was kinda cute when all excited. After the others returned, Fang sorted out our coins and we split up into 2 again.
-What should we try first? The video games? Or the dance game! I wanna try the claw machines too! -Chester giggled in excitement, dragging me along by my arm.
-I don't know, I don't necessarily like arcades.
-Come on dude! You can be so lame sometimes. -He chuckled to himself.
He took me to some of those iconic arcade machines, where you have to shoot the enemy spaceships without yours getting destroyed.
-I bet I could score higher than you! -he said with a grin on his face.
-You wish dummy! I could beat you even while asleep. -I crossed my arms as Chester put the coins into the machines next to each other.
We got ready, and then pressed start. We were shooting those ships with insane aim and speed, but Chester was slowly losing his lives. After a few rounds he got hit and his screen flashed "GAME OVER", but I was still playing.
-Wow you're still at it! And you only lost 1 life so far?? Not fair!
-What do you mean not fair, I'm just more skilled than you! -I yelled back, trying to not lose focus.
-Fine, fine, you win this! Now die so we can go play something else.
-Hell nah I'm beating the record on this thing! -I laughed, seeing that I was already getting close to the highest score on the leaderboard.
Chester stood behind me, watching me play and cheering me on. It was kinda making me nervous that he was watching, and also the fact that he had his hands on my shoulders. My palms were sweating and my fingers started to get sore from spamming the shoot button, but I couldn't give up. I played for quite a long time and ended up beating the high-score with 3 times as much as first place on the leaderboard.
-Oh my god dude your score is so high! -Chester exclaimed enthusiastically.
-I know! Wait what name should we put into the machine?
-Something funny! Like cock and balls hehehehe. -He laughed at his own immature joke, and I tried very hard to defeat my inner demons and not laugh at literally cock and balls.
-There are kids on these machines, we can't put shit like that on the leaderboard.
-True.. but why don't you just put your name there?
-That wouldn't be epic at all! I need a special name. -I put a hand on my chin and began thinking.
-How about like, "Mecha emo"? Or "King of darkness "?
-King of darkness actually sounds fire. I think that's what I'll go with. -I chuckled and began typing it in and pressed enter.
-DUDE YOU JUST WROTE "KING OF D"! -Chester laughed loudly.
-HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN?
-I think it just didn't fit in the bracket! But now you are the king of D. -He continued to laugh while my face turned a bit red from embarrassment.
