Alicia's pov:
The alarm goes off and I hit the off button being already awake. I run my hands through her soft curls again and shift them to a side, revealing the little circular scar on her neck.
I didn't want to tell her why I was distant yesterday, I honestly thought she wouldn't have noticed... But Maya did notice, so I told her half the truth.
In reality I was crying, I was crying uncontrollably for the two days. I would've cried in front of her that day, but I can't. I'm supposed to be strong for her, when she reveals these things I should hold it together. I couldn't, I cried in the car. I cried when I got home. I cried in the office. I've been crying the whole time. I couldn't protect her.
Maya would've thought I was pitying her if I cried in front of her that day, I really wasn't. I just couldn't imagine her going through all of that stuff. I didn't want it to be real, the abuse. I couldn't believe it was real. How can someone be so cruel?
Even her grandparents, they didn't try to stop it. That Chiru bear's memory she told me that day... I thought it was wholesome before, them buying her a gift but now I know better. She's always tried to tell me in her own ways, I should've listened more carefully. Should've comforted her more. Instead, I left.
I close my eyes and kiss the scar, holding her closer to me. She shifts closer in her sleep, getting my arm under hers.
I've never felt this secure with anyone before. I've never let anyone else stay the night before her. I've never wanted them to stay, I never stayed at theirs too, not even Andrea's. It's different with Maya though. She's definitely done some witchcraft to make me change when it comes to her.
I feel her caresses my hand. "You up, honey?" I ask in a whisper. She turns around in my arms and smiles saying,
"I am." God, I love that morning voice.
"Good morning." I whisper leaning down to kiss her.
"Good morning." She replies smiling against my lips. "Did you sleep well?"
"Mhmm, very well."
"What's the time?"
"There's still time for your class, don't worry. We'll reach on time." I say and she yawns snuggling closer.
"How're you feeling?" I ask. "Legs working fine?"
She laughs and lifts her legs one at a time, "Seem fine to me."
After the laughter dies down, I suggest. "Want to take a bath while I make breakfast, angel?"
Maya nods saying, "Won't you join me?"
"Maybe later, after I'm done cooking."
"But I'll be done by then..." She pouts looking up and then says, "Oh wait nevermind- your sister must be hungry too."
"It's just us today." I say. "Bella's at Steph's."
"Awh...Then take a bath with me, baby." She says, caressing my cheek, "We can cook together after."
I chuckle and reply, "Not today, darling. If I go in with you, it'll take a long time for us to get out."
She smirks saying, "Can't get enough of me now?"
I roll my eyes saying, "Go take a bath."
"Okay." Maya says, getting up on her elbows as she kisses me while climbing on top of me.
She goes down to my neck but I flip us over and speak, "Don't start things you can't finish. Go take a bath."
"You're very demanding." She says, closing the gap as her lips meet mine.
