chapter 23

"And then she left." I tell Lara, Kiara and Adrian.

It's been two days since she's properly talked with me. Maybe that's not a big gap but I really miss her. I shouldn't have told her anything. I should've kept my mouth shut. It was going so good before.

I miss her way more because I've been alone for this period. Kaka and kaku have extended their road trip, they're going to come back a week later. They're not here to distract me anymore. It gets lonely in the house all alone.

I told Kiara, Lara and Adrian that Alicia and I have been hanging out outside of school hours, that we're "friends". I trust them enough to know they won't betray me. All of them. Even if I've only known Adrian for only a month or two, I know he's a good guy.

Obviously I didn't tell them everything. Just enough so that they could help me figure this out. I didn't tell them that we've kissed or that we've slept in the same bed more than once... I really want to share everything but I don't know if Alicia would like that.

I thought we were going to go on a date date. But she hasn't yet talked to me. She doesn't even text me. Am I just overthinking?

Adrian pops the lollipop he's been sucking and says, "Girl... I warned you, she's moody."

"Or maybe she's scared? You know about her job and everything." Lara says. Good point.

"Why would she herself ask to meet up again then?" Kiara says. Another good point.

"Ugh this is all so confusing."

"It's okay babes, we'll figure it out." Kiara says patting my back, the same way Alicia did before she left.

"Should I text her or talk to her now?" I ask.

"No. Don't make the first move when she's the one who is ignoring you." Kiara replies. "She should come back to you."

"I think you just need to make her jealous." Adrian suggests, stopping near the tree we always chat at.

Lara drops her bag on the wooden bench and sits besides me nodding her head.

"How will that help?" I ask.

"You see...when someone doesn't value you, you need to let them know that you have other options." Lara says.

I don't want the other options. I just want her to miss me a little too...

"How about that new girl?" Lara suggests, smirking to herself.

"No. Not her."

"Why not? She has her eyes on you, babes."

Adrian interrupts saying, "No, no, we need someone who she's already seen you with."

"Kaylee!"

"I don't think she's seen me with Kaylee."

"My poor innocent Maya," Lara says. "Why would she give you such a show if she hadn't? She definitely saw you with her and then got jealous." That does make sense...

"Oh yeah, definitely and Kaylee's always working. She can sneak us in." Adrian replies.

"It's on then! Today we're going to go to the bar and make Miss Moore jealous." Lara excitedly says with a big grin.

"You know... Kaylee has been talking about you." Adrian tells me, looking very shy. That's a first. "Give her a chance?"

"She's seems like a really good person, Adrian. Really, I enjoyed talking to her. But I can't, I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I tried."

"How will she even know we're going?" Kiara asks.

"Wait and watch." Lara says, going to Alicia's office.
