Chapter Sixty Five
The figure strode towards the Dominator pointing directly at him. "You just made the biggest mistake of your life. I'm going to rip you apart you walking tin can!"
The Dominator ran at him with a raised fist.
"Why won't you die?"
"I thought the same about you," said Adam. "Why can't I kill you? What is your weakness? You had to have one. Not only at this dimension level do I have super strength and invulnerability, I also have super intelligence. I remembered when you attacked me when I was four. You could do that, being master of the dimensions, time as well as space is something you can move freely in, but something stopped you. What was it? It was light! The light from my brother and father's torches. Why do you wear that dumb armour? To keep the light from you. Also when Lung tried to fry you. He burnt off your armour and revealed you. You were weak and it wasn't the heat that hurt you, it was the light from the fire. Light! That's your weakness."
"You talk a big act boy. What're you going to do?"
The Dominator collided with Adam who stood his ground and wrapped his great arms around the super villain.
"I'll show you what, tin face."
Adam bounded upward and the two figures shot up and smashed through the transparent dome covering the Nexus. They went sailing upward. Adam had leapt with a force that exceeded the escape velocity of the planet Logos and the two figures hurtled away into space.
The Dominator struggled in the grip but Adam held him fast. Adam thought about his parents and his brother and how this creature had made them suffer. He thought about the chaos this master of evil had brought about in the multiverse and how this tin clad creep had killed his teacher Lung, and the anger fuelled Adam's titanic strength.
They fell into the sun's gravity well and sped towards the sun and the Dominator's struggles became worse but Adam held him. He would not let him go. The two figures fell into the sun together.
Adam screamed. "I love light!"
In the vacuum of space nobody could heard him scream, or for that matter the Dominator screaming, and he did scream.
The students in the Nexus looked up to the hole in the hemisphere and to the sun beyond. Who would return if either of them did?
Some heavy powerful body fell through the opening in the Nexus like a meteor and smashed down onto the ground.
Adam knelt on the shattered ground, his legs splayed. One hand was down with his forefinger touching the ground and the other arm was outstretched, and his head was bowed.
The true, triumphant stance of a super hero.
Adam raised his head slowly and looked about him. He looked at the body of the dragon Lung. One great eye opened on the huge head of the mighty lizard. Adam ran to him. Lung raised a great claw.
"High five Adam," said Lung.
Adam slapped his huge hand into the scaly claw.
"You're alive," said Adam
"Very perceptive of you young Adam. I can see your first term of education has not been wasted. I was momentarily stunned."
Adam realised his body was no longer big and muscle bound. He had gone back to being a twelve year old boy. Adam crouched on the floor. His body was a mass of cuts and bruises and he was in a lot of pain.
"I need a holiday."
"As luck would have it Adam in a few days time, it will be Christmas."
Adam thought about this. "You're right." He smiled at Lung. "Merry Christmas."
He was aware of somebody kneeling down beside him. It was Jake. Jake put an arm around Adam.
"Thanks for saving multiverse little brother and thanks for saving my bacon. I'll never say a bad to you or about you again."
"The same for me."
"You don't really mean that."
"And you don't either."
Jake grinned at his brother.
"How do you feel?"
"Wonderful. Next stupid question."
Lung stood on all four of its legs and unfurled its wings. It opened massive jaws and sent a great roar that could be heard all over the Nexus and beyond. Birds just outside the dome all scattered and a lone T-Rex raised his head from a dead dinosaur he had been eating and sniffed the air. Something had disturbed him.
The vast wings started to beat and the reptile lifted into the air. Lung's huge stomach inflated and the scales turned from a dull grey to a golden yellow and then to a hot red as though a furnace burnt within Lung's stomach. The dragon flew high above the city of glittering towers. Adam thought the beast was beautiful and at the same time terrible. Lung blasted out tongues of flame which spelt out words in fire across the inner dome.
They were, Thank you Adam Brodie.
There was a hushed silence from the crowd of students. Then they surged forward and hoisted Adam on their shoulders and bore him around the Nexus cheering.
"Hooray for Adam Brodie!" they cried.
