It's been a week since my last nightmare, and that was the day my mom had found me startled after one. The talk I had with her was comforting and made me feel somewhat safer. The nightmares have finally stopped although not completely, I'll still wake up maybe once in a while feeling panicked without any good reason. I hadn't really decided what to do with the options she gave me though.
I could try therapy but it would just feel weird, I wouldn't want to go offload to a stranger. But then again they get paid to listen to other peoples problems.
I tried to just dig everything deep down and keep I there. I had no reason to even feel like this, nobody owes me anything and I don't need my Moms worrying about me. They have enough on their plate as it is, it had only been a few months since my momma found out she couldn't have a kid or produce viable eggs.
It strained their marriage and instead of focusing on that I had my mom worried about me.
I'm 17 and my mom had to remind me to breathe!
Breathe
I Did need to breathe though. Just stop and take a breath.
Because today was not the time to worry about any of it, I've decided to throw every ounce of worry out the window because today was my graduation.
I just needed to have one decent day.
I got up super early. The ceremony started at 9 but I had to get there by 8 to practice. I was one of the students giving a speech, they only chose a few to deliver a speech and I was thankful to be one of them.
At first I wasn't interested but May convinced me. She was also taking a day off school to come to the graduation with Athena, Harry, and Bobby. I barley knew Bobby but he seemed pretty nice at the fire station. I was always quite close with the grants because of my bond with May, and our moms were close.
I was so excited for the graduation ceremony, I was also having a birthday and graduation party tomorrow since it was my birthday. My mom was inviting the 118 and I was inviting a few people, I invited May, Lizzie, and Mia. Lizzie and Mia were two of my close friends who were also graduating today, they were identical twin sisters so it was hard to tell them apart.
Once I made it to the school everyone was getting ready, I didn't get to practice my speech today but yesterday we pretty much covered it during school.
I saw people starting to come in the stadium, it was starting to fill up pretty quick. Behind stage staff members had us all line up in alphabetical order.
I looked at my watch and saw the time read 8:49 it was only ten minutes until the ceremony started I was pretty nervous but the readiness I was feeling overcomes the rest. Here is how the ceremony was supposed to go, they had chairs lined up in front of the stage. We were all about to go sit in those chairs while they played a slide show of our senior year. After the slideshow the speeches were given and extra awards for scholarships and stuff like that.
Then each side of chairs separated by Normal graduates and Honor roll graduates would stand up. After the honor graduates walk across the stage to get their diploma the normal ones would follow. Then the ceremony would be over.
I was one of the honor graduates, we all had a yellow tassel. We all made our way to the seats as more people entered the building, in the distance I saw my family enter along with the grants. I was happy to see Nia smiling and laughing in my mommas arms.
The seats were arranged in alphabetical order and we all had to stay in that order or else we would get the wrong diploma.
I heard the microphone ringing and realized that the ceremony was about to start.
