"Oh come on Evan they can't be that bad." I said stirring the noodles in the pot below me. He scoffed taking a seat at his kitchen island.
"You don't get it, they gonna be dying to find something at my life to pick at. It's gonna cause an argument and Maddie's bringing Chimney." He mumbled. I had to stop myself from spitting out my coffee in shock.
"Chimney? I get that he should meet her parents but like from the way you describe them that's gonna be awkward" I whistled the last part placing my Mug down on the counter.
"Maddie's bringing Chimney and I need to bring someone else to help de escalate in case anything goes wrong"
I looked up at him noticing the way he was now looking at me with pleading eyes. I quickly began to shake my head.
"No, no way. I'm not coming to a dinner with your family, it's a family dinner for a reason Buckley."
"Oh come on, your technically family.!"
I began adding my home made sauce into the pot of noodles stirring it around to spread the sauce evenly.
I reached to turn of the stove and fixed my attention on Evan who was behaving like a nervous wreck right now.
"Yea I mean I suppose we are sort of family in a way. But what is your excuse for inviting me besides to de escalate in case anything goes wrong?"
He then looked thoughtfully into the sky like he was waiting for a lightbulb to appear above his head. I sighed grabbing a bowl and pouring noodles into it carefully.
I looked up at the staircase as Albert walked down in a T shirt and Basketball shorts.
"Chimney and I are gonna shoot some hoops, catch you later bro. Oh hey Monae!" He quickly said on the way out.
That was not weird at all.
I came over to make simple udon noodles for Evan because this whole family crisis situation was been worrying him a lot. Him and I were friends and he was like a brother to me, I hated to admit it but he was.
I was worried about him eating right and well, here we are. I placed the bowl in front of him and he quickly snapped his fingers suddenly causing me to jump back.
"I Can tell them your chimneys sister.!"
I looked at him for a second questioning how he made it this far in life with so little brain cells.
"Do I look Korean to you Evan?"
He then sighed again placing his head in his hands.
After a few seconds of pitying I took a seat beside him pulling out my phone. It was the work schedules for this week, the schedule wasn't that bad. I mean well it was better then my prior everyday busy schedule.
"Mm this is good what did you put in here?" He asked stuffing his face.
"I just made my own sauce and boiled some udon noodles, I have to show you the tiktok recipe when I get the chance" I answered.
"So will you come?"
I groaned frustrated that he was still on this. I sat for a second thinking, what is the worse that could happen? I mean it must've been something bad Buck was worried about if he was so set on having somebody else there with him.
