"Wow! What a delightful experience this is!" I said cheerily. "Three of you ganging up on me. An innocent person at that."
"Don't get us misunderstood Lorry. " the one in the middle, the leader among them, said accusedly.
"We just want to talk to you, that's all."
"Yeah!" Entourage 1 said.
"Yeah, just talk to you." Entourage 2 said.
"All right Mia, what do you want to talk about." I said, relenting. I just want to sit and eat dessert!
The laughed together then Mia, their leader and also the daughter of a count, turned to me, "We heard that you became the prince's personal guard, so..."
"Yeah, apparently everyone did!" I cut in on her. She looked upset but reigned it in.
"Ah, yes." She said with a forced smile. At least try to sell it, I can see the hot steam coming out of your head, hah!
"We just want you to help us out while your at it. You know, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours." She smiled smugly.
"First of all, why should I help you. Secondly, what do I gain from this exchange." I asked her then covered my mouth with my hand and said exaggeratedly. "Come to think of it, whatever reason you come up with, I don't care."
I was going to walk passed them to get to the table, when Mia held my arm tightly and the others blocked my part. 'Aish! This really is troublesome! Its startingto get on my nerves!'
Mia came very close to me and said quietly in my ear, "You won't want anyone to know about what happened four years ago, would you?"
"What do you mean?" I asked her, not letting her get a reaction out of me. 'She's not talking about the same. Nobody knows about that!' I clenched my knuckles.
"Oh! Oblivious, are we now?" She said with glee. "I think it went a little bit like this, 'Get out of here. All you do is cause me trouble! Your only a gold digger, you..."
I pushed her away roughly before she could say anymore. She tripped but was caught by the other girls. My hands started to sweat furiously and my vision became distorted. I had to get out of here right now.
Mia seeing my reaction, started to laugh hysterically. I didn't care about her. I had to get out of here. I need some fresh air.
"What's going on here girls?" Someone said walking towards us elegantly. I turned around and notice that it was the Dukes daughter, Mallory Winter.
"Oh, nothing Miss Mallory." Mia said with a curtsey.
"Are you sure, because it looked like you were arguing from over there. " Mallory said pointing at the place that she came from with the others over there also paying attention to us.
"Yes, it's nothing. Hahha!" Mia continued with her act along with her entourage.
I didn't have time for her act and step forward to take my leave but I ended up stumbling. Fortunately, Mallory caught me.
"Are you OK?" Mallory asked.
"Yes, thank you." I thanked her as I straighten up. Mia was trying hard to hide her smile but I could see it. No wonder I felt like I touched a leg. 'I'll get you back for this, Mia. Just you wait!'
I saw her flinch from my gaze, then her expression hardened. Then she gave me a smirk. Before I could comprehend what was going on, I heard a sizzling noise getting closer. 'Oh no!'
I hurriedly pushed Mallory away and unsheathed my sword (a/n: the sword in the story's cover). 'Hah! Mama thought that she had collected all my weapons away from me.'
I flung it to my left, where the sound was coming and deflected the hurling object. It was crumbled paper. Seeing it better, it had a crystal in it. That was why I heard it coming.
I looked at the direction it was projected from and I saw the third person in Mia's entourage. That was where she was. No wonder I didn't see her. 'You have really gone too far this time, Mia.'
Right when I was about to talk with Mia, someone screamed, "FIRE!" And the crowd started to panic.
I looked at my left to see that the curtains closest to us was caught on fire. It most be because I didn't control the outage of my sword when I hurriedly swung it.
Everyone was panicked and some where running around, trying to get out of here. 'It's all right, I just need to get water to quench it out!'
I tried to move so that I could go to the food court, I remember I saw a huge bowl with mineral water in it, but I couldn't because of the rampage. I was getting hit from every side. I was back to where I was from the beginning.
"SPLASH!"
Suddenly I was splashed with water, the next thing I knew was that the place became quite and everyone's eyes were on me, some were laughing at me while others looked at me with pity or shock.
The fire had been quench and I was soaked. Looking up, I saw that it was Prince Austin that quenched the fire, his eyes widened in surprised when he saw that I got soaked and guilty. Lillian and Aaron were also beside him.
This was why I really hated coming to such events. It's always ends up like this one way or the other. I always end up getting humiliated and being made the center of attention.
My eyes became red but I was thankful that i was soaked so nobody noticed. I don't want to stay here anymore! I'm sick and tired of the gazes!
"Hey! Get us a towel! Hurry up!" Lillian hurriedly said ones she came back to her senses and came running towards me.
