The next day I went to the castle and was shown to the Prince's Quarter by a guard. I reached there and was told that he was in his study area which was also his work area.
After asking for directions, I followed the part I was directed to. He has less guards than one will think. I mean, he is the Prince and next in line, even though it has not been made official yet but everyone secretly speaks about it and tries to curry favour from him.
It's no wonder why many people were after this job and the reason of envy from others.
I walked down the hall leading to his study room. Even though it is plainly decorated and has no furniture or ornaments, it only amplifies its beauty.
Reaching the double door, I knocked on it and said, "It's Lorry Night reporting for duty."
"Come in." Aaron replied to me after a while. I took a deep breath then held the nob and opened the door ones I released my breath.
I closed the door after I got in. I was caught off guard by the room. After all Prince Austin is regarded as the Ice Prince of the kingdom. Even his sword has ice attributes. But this... this right here in front of me feels...warm.
The books on the shelves, the couch, the lamp, the rug that covers more than half the room. It all feels warm and cozy. The furniture is minimum but have been arranged perfectly. And don't forget that this study room is larger than my room!
"Hahaha! You must be surprised Lorry to the point that your left in awe." Aaron laughed at me with his right hand closing his face.
"Yeah! Definitely caught surprised. " I replied and closed my gaping mouth. That was embarrassing! What a way to start the day!
Though, Aaron does have a pleasant voice and laughter. Come to think of it, he should be around the Prince Austin's age.
Aaron actually comes from a family of librarians. He and Prince Austin have been friends since they were little. They used to cause a lot of mischief before, them and...
"What should I start with Prince?" I asked. I can't stand the fact that he keeps on looking at me like he wants to ask something but doesn't know how to start.
He looked at Aaron and they seem to be discussing between themselves.
"Should I show you around, Lorry?" Aaron asked.
"Hmm, thank you." I said in appreciation. Aaron came over to me. I stayed rooted even though he was all ready at the door.
It's not because I didn't want to go but because it felt like Prince Austin wanted to say something.
"Lorry?" Aaron called my name. I look back to him. "Shall we go?" He asked.
I turned back and stared at Prince Austin one last time but he was back to looking at his files. I sighed and walked to Aaron.
"Sorry, let's go." I told him with a smile and we left. What was I even thinking? I must be out of my mind!
...
Aaron showed me all around the Palace. It was beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous! I got to see the Royal gardens and the flowerbeds full of beautiful blue roses and other scented flowers.
I was then informed about my duties as the Prince's Bodyguard. All I had to do was guard the Prince from the outside of his study. It has been three weeks now and I have to say, this was not what I expected! It's absolutely not!
The working hours are from eight o'clock in the morning go six in the afternoon. Sometimes I get to go home five in the afternoon if nothing comes up.
Prince Austin spends most of his time in his study room. He doesn't go out often ones he starts his work except for when he has to go out for official matters.
Being a Prince sure is stressful and tiring! I don't think I can handle that! Fortunately for me, Aaron had everything planned and I didn't had to stand by the door all day. I have my own mini office at the door.
It had a small comfy cushions, a working desk, a lamp and all. Come to think of it, it's like a small reception in front of the study. And it didn't even look out of place in the hall!
While the Prince and Aaron busy themselves work what every minute, with Aaron coming out and going in every hour, I was busy occupying myself. How you might ask?
Hahaha! By Binge watching! It's been long since I had watched so much! I got to catch up on some that I left and got to watch knew ones!
Haha! It's really been a fantastic experience! Who knew being the Prince's Bodyguard would be so so much relaxing? Haha!
All right, don't get me wrong. I did asked if I could help around with anything but I was completely and utterly denied any chance and advance that I made!
Whenever I asked, Aaron would politely reject my help and say that it's not part of my job. I also asked Prince Austin but I only got a silent no from him.
Since I couldn't help them out and I had lots of free time, I decided to let myself rest for a while. It has surely been long since I could relax this much!
I kept the remaining half of my cookie down and took a sip of my tea. The door got opened from the inside. I looked up and it was Aaron. This time around, he wasn't holding any pile of documents or files with him.
It's quite funny when he goes in with bundles of documents that is above his head. Hahaha!
I greeted him in a friendly way to which he responded. Aaron and I have become friends now. He is actually a nice and funny guy despite his scholarly look.
"Befpre you end up melting into your cushions,..." Aaron said laughingly and I joined along. See, I told you.
"You should get yourself packed up, we are going on an adventure next week!" He said with a mischievous smile.
"Whaa...!" I half screamed, my hand paused mid-air, with my remaining cookie in it and Aaron still with that smile on.
