It was a long while before anything happened, but when it did, it was clear that it was big.
"Someone' must have hit them!" Sophia said excitedly, "The fences must be down because there's a bunch of walkers everywhere!"
"When we're leaving, I want you all to stay by his side!" Abraham yelled, pointing at Eugene.
I took a couple of deep breaths, stepping back from the door as it slid open.
"Come on!" Rick yelled, "Fight to the fence!"
I caught Daryl's eye and he quickly gestured for me to hurry up and I leapt out, turning to give Sophia and Carl a hand down so they didn't fall.
"Run for the fence!" Rick repeated, pointing us in its direction and she grabbed my hand.
Daryl covered us as we ran, making sure that nothing got too close to us and I used the thing that I had made to stab one of the walkers in the eye as we neared the fence, pushing the young girl ahead so she would be one of the first ones over.
"Up and over!" Rosita called and one by one, each of us flipped over the chair fence with a little bit of help from Abraham.
Even before everyone was over, Daryl was leading us through the woods and I hurried to catch up with him, "What did you do? How'd you get away?"
"Didn't do nothin'," he muttered and looked down at me, "Someone else hit 'em."
"What? Who? How?"
"I don't know," he said, looking around before heading in another direction and this time, I followed silently. He seemed really pissed off for some reason.
We all crowded around the base of a tree when he stopped, muttering a quiet here to Rick who began digging.
"Alright, we have guns. We'll go back and finish them off." Rick said quietly as he began tugging the bag out while we all shared glances with each other.
"Rick," I began, making him look up, "We're not going back there. We just made it out."
"She's right," Glenn agreed, "Besides, anyone who is still in there is either dead or gone."
I glanced around Abraham when I heard what sounded like twigs snapping and Sophia gasped loudly from beside me.
"Mom!"
Carol emerged from behind one of the trees, a tired smile on her lips when she wrapped her arms around her daughter's shoulders.
Daryl, surprising everyone, rushed up to her once Sophia had pulled away, hoisting her into the air slightly as he hugged her and when he pulled away, I was shocked to see that he had cried.
What the hell? She gets tears and I get the cold shoulder? Oh no, sorry, I got a hug and then he yelled at me. Did I not mean as much to him as she did?
I could feel Maggie and a few other's eyes on me, gauging my reaction but I did what I felt was best, giving that we just went through something tragic and plastered a smile on my face, moving over to Carol's side like everyone else.
"Did you do that?" Rick asked, a hint of admiration in his voice and I wasn't surprised to see her nodding.
She looked at all of us with a small smile on her face before looking at him again, "You need to come with me. "
And as we started following her, I heard Sophia mutter, "My mom's a badass."

I tried to talk to Daryl as we walked but he ignored me, keeping his eyes on the road in front of us.
"Is this still about me running off at the prison?" I asked, shaking my head when he continued to ignore me.
Maggie gave my arm a comforting squeeze from beside me and I moved my gaze to the cabin that was just up ahead. The door opened and I almost stopped but Tyreese came out and in his arms...no way.
He had Judith.
Not only that, but behind him, Zeus appeared and he was quickly running towards us while Rick and Carl ran to Judith.
I crouched down as the dog seemed to be making his way to me, letting out a little laugh as he began licking my chin, "Oh am I glad to see you, boy!"
He then moved eagerly to Daryl, leaping up so his paws were against his chest and although reluctant, Daryl began petting him and I smiled, looking around at everyone, happy that we were all back together.
"I don't know if the fire is still burning." Rick said quietly while the majority of us were all cooing over Judith and I looked up to see thick black smoke rising into the air.
"It is." Carol said, making him nod.
"We should go."
"Where?" I asked, ignoring the feeling of Daryl's eyes on me.
"As far away from here as possible."
I passed Judith over to Carl, tweaking her chin gently and moved to pick up the bags of guns, only for Abraham to throw it over his shoulder.
"I've got it," he nodded.
"Thanks." I smiled, calling for Zeus before following everyone onto the railway tracks.
Although he was walking ahead with Carol, I watched as he gave her arm a gentle squeeze before stopping, waiting for me to reach him.
"Hey." he mumbled.
Oh so now he wants to talk.
"Hi."
"'m sorry I was a dick to you back there." he said quietly, "I don't really have a valid reason for doin' it."
"It just hurt that you pushed me away." I told him, glancing up at him through my hair.
"I know. I saw it in yer eyes. I don't want to see ye' look at me like tha' again."
A smile quirked at my lips, "Then don't give me a reason to feel like that. And thank you for not letting them take me."
His jaw clenched and he shook his head, "I'd never let anyone take ye'."
I felt a warm feeling spread through my body when he said that and all of the built up frustration towards him evaporated and I reached over and took his hand. I never was able to hold a grudge.
"We'll stop here for the night," Rick said quietly, looking up at the sky, "Everyone get something to eat and then some rest."
Daryl shrugged his bag from his shoulders and I took a seat at the base of a nearby tree, resting my head back against the bark.
"Hey," I mumbled as he took a seat beside me, making him look at me, "Did you think I was dead?"
He chewed on his lips for a few seconds, "I didn't know what to think. When ye' ran off to get the dog," he then glared at Zeus out the corner of his eye, "I tried to follow ye' but-"
"You had to get out," I smiled, "Don't worry, I get it."
"Me and Beth, we waited in the woods to see if ye'd come out but ye' didn't. Jesus Freckles, ye' don't know how angry I was."
"I'm sorry that I put you through that." I whispered but he shook his head.
"Beth believed ye' were alive. I didn't 'nd I'm sorry tha' I didn't have more faith in ye'."
I shrugged and gave his shoulder a nudge, "I'm here now."
He smiled slightly and placed a light kiss against my forehead, "Yeh. Ye' are."
