two chapters on one weekend? whaaaat?

Sarah;

With our slow pace, by the time darkness fell, we were still inside the community.

We had changed formation a little though, instead of me being near the back with Michonne, I was now in between Carl and Ron, having to give him a hard tug a couple of times to get him to keep up.

I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting Sam to do so well. He had kept quiet and kept moving. Until now that is.

I ran into Carl's back when he suddenly stopped, looking around him to see Sam moving out of the line.

Please, not now.

He started whimpering to himself, pulling on Jessie's hand to try and get her to come out with him but she shook her head.

"Sam, Sam come on honey. You're doing so well." she praised, giving his hand another tug, "Just a little bit longer."

I looked around me and out of habit, I slowly pulled my knife out because I could see that some of the nearby walkers were becoming interested in what was going on.

"Sam, hey. You can do this." Ron encouraged but the younger boy stepped back again, breaking contact with his mom.

Suddenly, before anyone could stop them, two walkers were suddenly on him and his painful scream filled the air.

Jessie started screaming too so that and Sam's crying, the walkers definitely knew that we were there.

I could only stare in horror as another cluster of walkers swarmed her but she didn't scream. No, she only tried to look around them so she could get one last glimpse of her son.

As Jessie went down, I noticed that she was still gripping onto Carl's hand and to be honest, she didn't look as if she was going to let go.

My eyes went to Rick, who had also seen that his son was now in danger and he stepped forward and began hacking Jessie's arm off and I finally moved to help Carl get off the ground when he fell, "You okay?"

He nodded, stumbling a couple of steps before he regained his balance.

"You."

I turned around at the sound of Ron's voice, seeing him now pointing a gun at Rick, his hand shaking slightly. Behind him, Michonne stalked up to him and I looked away when she ran her sword through him but I didn't miss the gunshot that went off.

I wasn't hit. Neither was Rick or Michonne and I looked around to Carl, who was swaying slightly in on his feet.

"Carl?"

I screamed when he slowly turned around, seeing that there was now a gaping hole where his right eye should be.

"Dad?" he said weakly and then he collapsed.

"No!" Rick yelled, quickly scooping his son up into his arms, "No!"

Michonne took off running first, him following quickly behind her and I scooped his small axe up from the ground and took up the rear.

"Where are we going?!" I cried, swinging the axe into one of the closest walker's head but they ignored me but when we ran back into the heart of the community, I had an idea.

The infirmary.
