The ride home was filled with a tense silence, each second stretching into an eternity as Akira tried to navigate the complicated dynamics of her new life.

The car finally pulled up to their home, and as they stepped out, Vasco's stern expression remained unchanged.

As they entered the house, Akira took a deep breath. She had to address the situation but needed to choose her words carefully.

She turned to Vasco, her voice calm but firm. "Vasco, I understand the importance of our families and our responsibilities.

However, respect must be mutual. Threatening my brother will not foster a good working relationship between our families.

"Vasco's eyes darkened, but he said nothing.

Instead, he walked towards his study, leaving Akira standing in the foyer.

She sighed, knowing that changing Vasco's mindset would be a long and difficult process.

She found Vasco in the study, buried in paperwork.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door and entered.

"Vasco, can we talk?"He looked up, his expression unreadable. "What is it?

"Akira stepped forward, her voice steady. "I understand that we're both under a lot of pressure.

But we need to find a way to work together and respect each other. This marriage isn't just a business transaction for me.

"Vasco leaned back in his chair, considering her words. After a long pause, he said,

"I'll think about it."

Vasco sat in his study, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he reflected on Akira's words.

She was trying to assert herself, but she still didn't understand the dynamics of her new life.

Power, respect, and control were the currencies here, and Vasco was the banker.

He leaned back in his chair, contemplating the challenge ahead. Akira was intelligent and determined, qualities he admired but also qualities that needed to be shaped to fit his world.

Vasco always watched her from a distance, whenever she was preparing the breakfast or dinner noting her grace and efficiency.

She was a formidable woman, but she needed to understand the reality of their marriage.

Vasco turned to face her, his eyes cold and calculating.

"You did well today, but there's something you need to understand. You're no longer Ms. Petit.

You're Mrs. Meherjirana now,

and that comes with responsibilities and expectations.

"Akira met his gaze, her expression firm. "I understand that, Vasco. But respect has to be mutual.

You can't just dictate terms and expect compliance.

"Vasco's smirk returned. "You still don't get it, do you? This isn't about mutual respect.

This is about power. Your brother Jeh is a threat to that power balance, and I won't tolerate any challenge from him."Akira felt a surge of anger but kept her voice calm.

"Jeh is my brother, and he will always protect me.

But I'm not here to challenge your authority, Vasco.

I'm here to work with you."Vasco stepped closer, his towering height making her feel small.

"Then prove it. Start acting like Mrs. Meherjirana.

Understand your place in this house and in our business."Akira took a deep breath, steadying herself. "I will, but on my terms.

I won't be a submissive wife, and I won't betray my family's trust.

If we're going to make this work, we need to find a balance."Vasco's expression softened slightly, a hint of respect in his eyes.

"We'll see about that. Just remember, Akira, in this house, my word is law."
