Sunlight grazed my face as soon as I stepped out. I looked back at the white building that had helped me heal, a soft smile creeping onto my lips. With a sigh, I turned and walked toward my new destination, feeling the warmth of the sun and the promise of a fresh start.
I found one of my brother's trusted men waiting to take me home. I gave him a thankful smile as he opened the car door for me. Sliding inside, I rested my head on the seat, letting out a small breath of relief.
I gazed at the beautiful greenery passing by as we drove. It would take almost two hours to reach home. The rehab center was situated on the outskirts of the city, designed to keep us away from the hustle and bustle, aiding in a faster recovery.
The past two months hadn't been easy. Staying away from my family and girlfriend, with no connection to the outside world, was a constant struggle. The rehab had strict rules: no outside contact, no technology. Their focus was entirely on our well-being and ensuring a swift recovery.
I sighed as frustration bubbled inside me. I couldn't wait to see Aurora, to hold her in my arms again. Needing a connection to her, I opened the first compartment of my bag and grabbed a photo.
I looked at the photo, her smile lighting up my whole world. Gently, I caressed the image, finding solace in her presence even through a picture. Her photo had been my anchor during the darkest times, helping me fight my addiction. Whenever the darkness threatened to consume me, her smile reminded me of why I needed to recover. I wanted to become a better man for her, the man she deserved. She had done so much for me, and now it was my turn to repay her.
I couldn't believe that I had actually fallen for a nerd like her. It was something I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams. But as unexpected as it was, I wasn't complaining.
I placed a soft kiss on the photo before tucking it back inside the bag. With a sigh, I decided to catch some sleep, knowing that Aurora had likely planned out our day and wouldn't leave my side for even a second.
My Aurora, my sunshine.
I woke up with a jolt, my heart racing with anticipation. Looking out the window, I saw the familiar sight of the Romano Mansion. Finally, I was back home. It felt comforting to be back.
"Sir, we are here," my driver said, opening the door for me. I grabbed my backpack and stepped out of the car. With a soft smile, I walked inside the house, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.
As I stepped into the magnificent living room, I found my family waiting for my arrival. My mom rushed towards me, enveloping me in a tight hug.
"Oh, my sweet boy, you're back!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with relief and joy. I couldn't help but laugh at my nickname. I don't think I would ever get used to it.
"Mom..." I said, feeling the warmth of her embrace.
My dad gave me a pat on the shoulder, his proud smile speaking volumes despite his few words. I knew he loved me deeply, even if he didn't express it as openly as Mom.
