It was a few days after I had told Scott I wouldn't go to the party. I was just out at the dog park on my lunch break when someone walked up beside me.
"You have a dog now?" Damon's voice asked. I groaned.
"Are you stalking me now?" I asked.
"No, I just happened to be in the general area and saw you were too. I knew you didn't have a dog so I thought it was weird you were here." Damon said.
"How did you know my location?!" I snapped.
"You are still sharing your location with me." Damon said. I quickly pulled out my phone and turned it off. Damon huffed beside me.
"You can stop now because this was just creepy as hell." I said.
"Well like I said I was confused as to why you were at a dog park." Damon said.
"Because I'm at a dog park, what's it matter?" I asked annoyed.
"Did you get a dog?" Damon asked.
"What if I did?" I asked. Before anything else could be brought up, sensing the tension Dodger came running over to the fence. "Hey buddy, it's okay. Go play." I said and he ran off.
"Was that -..." Damon trailed off.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said.
"Don't play stupid Bex, that's Dodger, Chris Evans dog! Did you kidnap his dog?! Are you that desperate to meet him?!" Damon asked and I snapped my head to look at him.
"Are you fucking kidding me?! No I didn't kidnap the dog!" I said leaving it at that.
"Then why do you have him?!" Damon asked.
I rolled my eyes, "Dodger! Time to go bubba!" I called and he came running to me. I hooked up his leash to his collar.
"Bexley! Answer me!" Damon said grabbing my arm. When he touched me Dodger growled and started barking at him, I had to hold his leash tightly since he was about to go after Damon.
"Damon just stop, let it go." I said as we quickly headed towards the car. Dodger was still looking in the direction we came, growling. "He isn't here anymore buddy." I said petting Dodger. I just watching the trail that was where the dog park was making sure Damon nor no one else followed.
I knew I should call someone to come and make sure I got back to Chris's okay but the fact of the matter was I only on my lunch break from work and I had to get back now.
I drove back through town and everything seemed to be calm and normal. Dodger ran into his spot behind the counter where I had placed a dog bed and he was happy as a clam.
"How was it at the dog park?" My one worker, Mandy asked.
"Damon showed up..." I trailed off. Mandy knew all about Damon, she used to be in his inner circle but dropped the group when she found out about what Damon did to me and why.
"How did he know about where you were?" Mandy asked.
"My dumbass didn't stop sharing my location with him. I forget I even was, and I guess he has been checking because when he saw I was at the dog park he knew I didn't have a dog and showed up." I said and Mandy rolled her eyes.
"So that's not creepy at all." Mandy said and we both laughed.
"Yeah well, I no longer share my location with him, and I left him standing there." I said. Mandy looked at Dodger laying in his bed chewing on his bone.
"He see him?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah asked if I kidnapped his dog..." I said and Mandy rolled her eyes. Mandy was the only one of my friends who knew about Chris and I since she also noticed Dodger, I swear he was more famous than Chris.
"Wow, he really thinks you would stoop that low?" Mandy asked and I shrugged.
We started going through ideas for the new display for the front window and we decided on old classics so as Mandy thought of idea set ups I was pulling all the classic titles from the shelves and going though some books.
I felt my cellphone start vibrating in my pocket and I groaned since I was juggling books. I set them down on the floor and I pulled my cellphone from my pocket, saw it was Chris and smiled.
"Hey, I'm working right now. Can I call you later?" I asked.
"We need to talk." Chris said. Those 4 little words made my heart leap into my throat.
"Um...give me a second." I said and put my phone in my pocket, still connected with Chris. "Mandy! I have to take a call in my office. I got some books pulled back here if you want to come and get them." I called out.
"Got it!" Mandy answered. I pulled my phone back from my pocket and then headed towards the back office, shutting the door.
"Hey, sorry, Mandy and I are setting up a new display." I said.
"Did you take Dodger out today?" Chris changed the subject instantly.
"Yeah, I did...we went to the dog park." I said and Chris groaned and then I heard him mutter something to someone.
"You need to start having Scott or Shanna take him out Bex." Chris answered.
"What?! Why?!" I asked.
"Well you know as well as I do people know who Dodger is and lately they are paying attention to who he is with and who that person is since they have never seen her before." Chris explained.
"I'm guessing more pictures of me with Dodger came out..." I pinched the bridge of my nose, leaning on the desk.
"Yeah, more pictures came out. You playing with him before going into the dog park and then you letting him play with some other dogs. It shows you waiting for him and then you leaving with him. It's all there Bex." Chris said and I groaned.
"Chris, I don't know what you want me to say or do. You wanted me to watch him. I'm going to have to take him out and I'm going to bring him with me to work. You know this..." I trailed off and Chris just groaned.
"I just think until I get back and can go out with you, you just let someone else take Dodger out and no more taking him to work." Chris said.
"So let me get this straight, I can stay at your house while you're gone and I can watch your dog as long as I'm home. Though I can't go out with him to the park or anything else..." I trailed off.
"They have your name Bex! They know your name now!" Chris snapped and I stopped.
"What?" I asked confused.
"The last round of photos that came out a few hours ago had your name attached. We don't know how they figured it out or what not but they have posted your name." Chris said more calmly.
There was silence since I didn't know what to do or say. I just stood there.
"I'm not being kept from life Chris, I have a job and everything else. I will stop taking Dodger on public walks and just do it around your neighborhood and but I still have to work. We can just work everything out on what we want to do once you get home."
I needed to stand my ground.
"And you don't want me releasing a statement right now?" Chris asked.
"I think it's smart." Megan said from the background.
"We can discuss it when you get home. What if you release a statement and it gets worse while your gone?" I asked.
"And it most likely will, no statement." Chris said.
"Just get home...please..." I begged.
"I will be and soon I promise. We will figure everything out soon." Chris said.
"Okay..."
"Hey, I love you." Chris said.
"I love you too." I said.
We hung up and I hung my head. I then looked on the desk and saw the picture of Chris and I from comic con and just sighed. Where it wall started...was this now coming to an end?
