A few weeks after Comic Con Chris was gone again and I was home alone. I was staying at my own house even though I had Dodger. I was secretly doing something without Chris's knowledge, and I was packing up things I didn't really use at the moment and wouldn't need immediately when and if I moved. Chris was right, we were in a good spot, and nothing would change if we moved in together. It was only 7 months, but we were already talking marriage and the future, I didn't think just packing up and getting things ready was a bad thing.
"So, he has no clue about any of this?" Scott asked and I smiled as I closed up another box.
"Nope, we just discussed the future in New York, and I got to thinking that we are in a good spot and maybe it would be smart if I moved in with him." I said.
"And if he has changed his mind?" Scott asked.
"Well if he changed his mind then it's not an issue, this is all stuff I don't use anyway, and it could really use to be packed up. Then it's just done." I said and Scott half nodded. "Do you think he changed his mind? Have you talked to him?" I asked concerned and Scott shook his head.
"He hasn't said anything to me. I think he is going to be so excited you want to move in." Scott smiled.
"Thank you for coming over and helping me. With Chris being out of town, I needed someone." I said and Scott smiled.
"No problem, you promised me movies and dinner though." Scott laughed and I nodded.
"We can take a break and order dinner now actually. I'm getting kind of hungry." I said and Scott nodded. As I pulled my phone there was a knock on the door.
"You order, I'll see who that is." I said and Scott nodded pulling out his phone.
I walked to the door and opened it seeing 2 Boston policemen standing there.
"Can I help you?" I asked.
"Bexley Tanner?" The officer asked.
"Yes?" I answered.
"Do you own the bookshop on main street?" The other officer asked.
"Yes...what is this about?" I asked.
"Ma'am, we hate to inform you of this, but your shop has been vandalized and broken in to." The officer said. Scott joined me at the door and heard everything.
"Oh my god." Scott said and I stood in shocked silence. "Bex?" Scott asked.
"Can I go to the shop?" I asked and the police nodded.
"I'll drive you." Scott said and I nodded as I grabbed my keys, and we left the house. We got in Scott's car, leaving Dodger at my house and we headed towards the bookshop with the cops driving in front of us. "Bex, should you call Chris?" Scott spoke up.
"What?! No! I need to see what the hell is going on before I call him while he is at work. I don't want to worry him. You know if I call him now, he will want to come home." I said and Scott groaned knowing Chris needed to be informed but also knew I had a point.
Once we pulled up to the shop my mouth fell open and I felt tears pricking my eyes.
"Scott..." I whispered and he parked the car. He got out and then I got out. He held my hand was we walked to the front of the shop. The front show windows were all smashed and broken, the front door glass was broken and then the door was ripped off the hinges.
"Can I go in?" I asked the cop and he nodded. I walked over the broken glass and sighed. There were books on the ground, pages ripped out, book covers torn, shelves and displays tipped over. I just looked around. That's when I saw the walls,
'Leave him alone!'
'He doesn't want you!'
'Slut!'
'Whore!'
Those were all spray painted on every wall.
"Who did this?" I asked the police.
"Well, we actually have them in custody. It was a group of females who said you didn't deserve someone, and they were going to hit you where it hurt. They wanted you to leave him alone." The cop explained.
I just groaned and ran my hands over my face.
"I need someone to also watch my house right now. Dodger is there and I don't want another group to go to my house." I panicked and the cop nodded.
"We called in back up when we left the house Ms. Tanner, they have already arrived." He said and I nodded. I then gasped and rushed to the door behind the register, the restoration shop. I flung the door open and saw nothing in there was damaged and I was grateful. These women did have some form of a heart.
"Ms. Tanner, do you know why they did this?" The officer asked.
"I'm dating Chris Evans, they are crazed fans." I said and the cop wrote it down in his notebook. "When can I start cleaning it up?" I asked and the cop sighed.
"It can be a couple of day Ms. Tanner we still need to do a small investigation even though we have who did the damage. We need to know if you plan on pressing charges." He asked.
"I don't know, I need to wrap my head around this..." I said and he nodded.
"We called and we have someone coming to board up the windows and door and we will also have a cop on the shop all night. Do you have insurance?" The cop asked and I nodded.
I just looked around. I heard the cop continue to talk but Scott took over the conversation. My life...my livelihood was now here and damaged all around my feet. All because of who I wanted to be with in my life.
"Hey, let's go home..." Scott said coming up putting his arm around my shoulder. It was then I realized I was shaking and hugging myself.
"I don't want to stay at my house..." I whispered once we got in the car.
"We will pack you some clothes, get Dodger and go to my house." Scott said and I nodded. "And you should call Chris..." Scott said.
"Please let me call him tomorrow..." I begged. "I need to wrap my head around this..." I said and Scott groaned but just nodded. He knew I would call, and he knew it had to be from me.
We went by my house, Scott was able to get in, pack me a bag, get Dodger and then we headed to Sott's house. The only place I was going to feel safe for the night.
