The next morning, I was sitting up in bed at Scott's house in the spare room. I hadn't slept much the night before since my head was still reeling from what I was going to do now about my shop. I had insurance on the books and the building, but this isn't something I ever wanted to use it for.
I was staring at my phone in my hand. I wanted to call Chris, I needed to call Chris but I didn't know how to explain this so he wouldn't want to come running back and try to save the day like he always did. I looked at Dodger lying across the foot of the bed.
"You think there is any way to do this, so your dad doesn't freak out?" I asked. Dodger huffed and I groaned knowing that was the correct answer. Before I could hit the call button there was a knock on the bedroom door.
"Come in." I said. Scott opened the door and came in with a cup of coffee.
"I brought you this knowing you will need caffeine to deal with my brother when you call him." Scott said and I chuckled.
"Thanks...I know I have to call him, but he is going to flip Scott."
"You'll be fine just keep him as calm as possible. Maybe facetime him so he can see your face and not just hear your voice."
"Oh yeah because my bloodshot eyes are so sexy." I said and Scott laughed.
"Just do whatever you think is best Bex, but he needs to be called." Scott said, kissed the side of my head and then walked out, taking Dodger with him so he could get him to go out for the day.
I pulled up Chris's contact info and did what Scott suggested and facetimed Chris.
"Hey, this is a pleasant...what's wrong?!" Chis started off then instantly changing his attitude seeing me.
"Um...we need to talk..." I trailed off.
"Bex..." Chris panicked.
"No, nothing like what you are thinking, trust me." I said and he sighed.
"What's wrong?" Chris repeated.
"Last night Scott and I were hanging out at my house when two policemen showed up. They informed me that the bookshop had been vandalized." I explained. Chris looked shocked but was silent. I could see where his mind was going to the point, I knew I had to interject. "It wasn't Damon." I added.
"How do you know?" Chris asked.
"Because they caught the people in the act. It was a group of woman, your crazed fans."
Chris ran a hand through his hair and then down over his face. "What's the damage?" Chris asked.
"Books destroyed, ripped and torn apart, displays and shelving knocked over, words spray painted on all the walls, front windows broken, door window broken, and the door broken off the hinges." I listed and I could just see his face getting red and tense.
"That's it, I'm on my way home..." Chris said and I sighed.
"No, stay where you are. Chris, its fine. I have to decide if I'm pressing charges and I have to talk to my insurance company about what they will cover."
"For fucks sake Bexley of course you're pressing charges!" Chris yelled and I sighed closing my eyes. They were filling with tears, it was finally hitting me. This was all coming to a head. "God Bex, I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell or make you cry, please don't cry." Chris continued and I shook my head.
"It's okay Chris, you didn't. Everything is just finally hitting me, and I know I have to press charges. Chris what am I going to do? I mean if these fans were willing to do this once, what's not to say they won't do it again? Chris I'm worried." I said and he sighed shaking his head.
"Baby, everything will be fine. I promise you it won't happen again. Why don't you go, get a shower and then go to the bookstore. You can talk to the cops from there and tell them you are pressing charges. I want you to send me a video of what the shop looks like." Chris said.
"Chris..."
"Please Bex." Chris begged. I sighed and took a sip of the coffee still in my hand.
"Fine, I will." I gave in.
"Alright, listen, where are you now?" Chris asked.
"Scott's house, I didn't want to stay at my place or even yours, I'm sorry." I said and he shook his head.
"No, it's fine I get it. Stay with Scott until I get home, okay?" Chris asked and I nodded. "I have to get to work. Don't forget to send me the video. I love you." Chris said.
"I love you too." I said and we hung up. I sighed and hung my head. This was going to be a long road.

I got to the shop later that day with Scott and we talked to the police outside and informed him I would be pressing charges. He was able to fill out the paperwork on the computer in his squad car then and there. I was thankful that was now done. Scott and I walked inside, and I sighed pulling out my phone.
"Your brother wants a video of the damages..." I said and Scott looked at me oddly.
"Why?"
"I have no clue." I said and Scott sighed and stayed silent as I filmed a video of the shelving and displays knocked down, the books all over the floor, the windows knocked out even though they were boarded up and the words spray painted on the walls. Once it was all done, I sent it off to Chris and looked at Scott.
"Time to call my insurance guy and find out what the next steps are." I said and Scott nodded.

I was sitting at the table in Scott's kitchen going over all my insurance paperwork that my insurance guy told me to go through seeing if anything that happened was covered. As I was going over everything my phone went off and I had a notification from Chris, he posted.
"What did he just post?" I asked Scott seeing he was watching it. He restarted the video and came over to show me. It was the video of the shop I had sent him. Then there was another video of Chris sitting in front of his camera.
"The video you just saw was the book restoration and store of my girlfriend Bexley Tanner. That shop was all she ever had, and it was her own and her pride and joy. Some of my fans thought it would be okay to break in and do the damage you saw in the video. They ruined practically everything in her shop and now she is having to start over from scratch again. She is going to make it, I know she will. What I'm here to say is I love all of my fans, but this has gone too far. I love Bexley and she is going to be in my life, I don't know what gives you select few the right to follow her, send her messages on Instagram bashing her or take it to this extreme and do property damage to her place of work. Luckily the ones who did this have been caught and criminal action is proceeding. Please going forward show Bexley some love, go in the shop and just visit, buy some books, get to know Bex, she is amazing. Thank you, guys, for letting me rant."
I just sat in shock at what he just did. My cellphone started ringing and it was a facetime with Chris.
"You did not have to do that..." I said and Chris smiled.
"I did and I'm also talking to your insurance guy, I'm paying for everything Bex."
"Chris stop!" I grumbled.
"No! This is because of me, I want to cover it. So, you get whatever you need. No expense fair." Chris said I sighed shaking my head.
"You are an amazing man Evans. What would I do without you?" I asked and he sighed.
"You would get by just fine. It's me who would be lost Bex." Chris said and I smiled at him.
"I love you. Come home soon?" I questioned.
"You can count on it." Chris said with a wink.
