Two weeks after dinner at Chris's, I was working in the store, in the back room restoring a book when there was a knock on the door.

"Yes?" I called out.

The door opened and it was Mandy, a girl I had hired, "Sorry Bex, but these were just dropped off for you." She said and handed me a vase of mixed flowers and I smiled.

"Thank you, can you put them on the back counter, and I will come read the card in a minute?" I asked and she nodded. I knew not to leave them in the back room. It could be colder than usual in here to help the books.

I finished up what I was doing and walked out. I grabbed the card from the flowers.

-Wanted to send you something to let you know I missed you while I was away. Dinner tonight? I promise not to cook.-

I giggled at the message and then pulled out my cellphone taking a picture of the flowers. Chris had been gone for a week. He was in LA for some business meetings.

Bex: I love the flowers thank you 😘

The answer came through quickly.

Chris: Well, I'm happy you love them. I wanted to come and see you to tell you I was back but...

Chris had been good staying away from the shop as to not draw attention.

Bex: I know and I'm grateful you did. Also, I would love to do dinner tonight but what if you come over to my place? I'll cook, we watch some tv and then maybe...you stay the night? Bring Dodger.

I didn't get an answer right away. I saw him start typing a few times and then stop. I got nervous. I was now regretting what I suggested. Chris and I had some very flirty, very steamy, FaceTime calls while he was gone. I figured he was home now, make it reality.

The dots disappeared altogether, and I sighed. I blew it, I knew I had.

Bex: I mean...if you had other plans...

I put my phone back in my pocket and worked on helping out some customers in the store.

I was reshelving some books when I felt my phone go off in my pocket. I pulled it out to have a text.

Chris: So, my phones a dick, maybe it was user error, but I thought I sent the message to you but when you didn't reply I got nervous.

I smiled and shook my head.

Bex: Old men and technology don't mix.

Chris had constantly been talking about his age and I had just recently picked on him about it.

Chris: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyways, my answer was, what time should I be over to your house?

I smiled.

Bex: Well, I get off tonight at 5, so you want to head over around 6-6:30?

Chris: Sounds amazing. See you tonight.

I put my phone away and looked at the time on the wall clock. 2:30...time would fly by, right?

I was busy cooking dinner when there was a knock on my front door and a bark from a dog and I smiled. I rushed to the front door and opened it to see Chris standing there with Doger's leash in on hand and duffel bag in the other. I bit my bottom lip slightly and Chris smiled at me.

He let go of Dodger's leash and he ran into the house. I rushed Chris and passionately kissed him as he wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up. He carried me into the house and kicked the door closed as our lips never disconnected. Once the door was shut Chris turned me, pinned me against it and then broke our lips apart.
