I was working in a book in the refurbishing room with earbuds in when I felt someone come up behind me and started kissing the side of my neck. I jumped and flipped around to see Chris standing there.
He chuckled when I faced him.
"I had earbuds in!" I said smacking his chest when I stood up.
"I know, made scaring you all better. Mandy said you had been in here most of the day." Chris said and I half nodded.
"Yeah after being closed down and the remodel, things got put on hold back here. I mean the customers understood but now that we are back up and running, they want their books." I said and Chris half nodded.
"Well you do know it's closing time right?" Chris asked and I look at him in shock.
"No it's not!" I gasped and rushed out to look out the front windows and saw it was dark outside and Mandy was gone, having closed up. "Mandy didn't even tell me." I said.
"Because I walked in. I said I would tell you. So ready to go home?" Chris asked and I looked back at the book on my work station.
"Can you give me like 20 minutes? I almost have this book done." I begged and Chris smiled, leaned in and kissed my forehead.
"Yeah, go ahead but I'm going to watch you work." Chris said as I chuckled.
He pulled up a chair and literally sat with me as I worked but was quiet and didn't get in the way. Once I was done I started cleaning up everything.
"You're pretty hot when you're focused on something." Chris said as I set the security alarm before we could leave and then locked up the door once outside.
I just looked at him and shook my head.
"And you're a horrible flirt Evans." I smirked and he shrugged. I then looked at where my car had been parked and it was missing.
"Please tell me you had my car moved?" I asked and Chris nodded.
"Shanna came with me and I gave her my spare. She drove it home because you and I wanted to give my girlfriend a ride home." Chris said.
"Chris...if that was the case you should have brought me to work." I smiled and Chris walked up to me wrapping his arms around my waist.
"You left so early, I didn't even realize you were gone until I rolled over and got to cuddle Dodger." Chris said and I giggled.
"Alright, I get it. Thank you for picking me up." I smirked and Chris leaned down and kissed me.
"Happy to." Chris said as we laughed heading to his car. He opened my door for me and then he got in I looked around the side of the car.
"Wait...isn't this the car Downey got you?" I asked.
"It is. I take it out every once in a while." Chris smirked getting in and he pulled out of the parking spot.
He took my hand as he drove, pulling it to his lips, he kissed it. I smiled at him.
"I love you." Chris said and I just smiled shaking by head slightly.
"I love you too." I said and he continued to drive. I watched out the window as we drove home and just sighed knowing I loved life right now and everything seemed perfect...well almost everything. "So I want to talk to you about something..." I trailed off.
"Always. You know you can talk to me about anything." Chris said and I nodded.
I took a deep breath, "I know when we were in New York we talked about marriage and the future and I told you to wait until we were together a year..."
"Yeah...?" Chris asked as he stopped at a red light. I turned to look at him
"Well what if we didn't wait?" I asked. Chris snapped his head to look at me.
"What are you saying Bex?" Chris asked confused.
"What if we didn't wait. What if we got married sooner rather than later?" I asked and was met with silence from Chris, just a stunned expression. "I'm only asking because we aren't getting any younger and I believe we both want a family..." I kept explaining. Chris leaned over and passionately kissed me.
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" Chris asked.
"I'm basically asking you to marry me Chris." I chuckled. He passionately kissed me again not caring the light just turned green.
When we broke apart Chris was just looking at me. "I can't believe you asked me to marry you..." he laughed. I laughed with him.
"Well technically I didn't ask, I told and you never really said yes or no..." I said and Chris laughed.
"Obviously it's a yes Bex! I was going to be bringing up marriage to you tonight at home." Chris said and I laughed.
"Well I have been thinking about it all night at work and I was figuring why wait. We know it was going to happen eventually, it was the path we were on so I just figured I would break tradition and bring it up first." I said and Chris smiled as the car behind him honked his horn as the light turned green for the second time.
"So we're doing this?" Chris asked and I nodded.
"I think we are." I said and Chris smiled.
We rode in silence until we got home and Chris pulled me to him once we were parked in the garage and he passionately kissed me, pulling me into his lap as we continued to make out.
"Let's run away and get married." Chris said as we broke apart to catch our breath.
"What?!" I asked shocked.
"Oh come on we can just go to Vegas or Atlantic City and just get married." Chris said and I leaned back and just looked at him.
"Chris...I know I may have just proposed but I wasn't meaning we run and get married tomorrow. I mean don't you want your family there?" I asked and Chris groaned leaning his forehead against my chest.
"Is it wrong to say at this point no? I just want you." Chris said and I chuckled.
"Chris, I know it sounds like an amazing idea but wouldn't you regret it?" I asked. Chris shook his head cupping my face.
"All I want is you Bex, that's all I'll ever want." Chris said and I leaned down and passionately kissed him again.
"Let's sleep on it. If you tell me tomorrow morning you still want to run away and get married, that is if you still accept my proposal tomorrow we will talk about where we will go." I said and Chris smiled.
"Oh sweetie, I'm never forgetting the proposal. That sticks no matter what." Chris said and I smiled.
"Good, now what do you say we go inside and celebrate this engagement?" I asked and he smiled as we both quickly got out of the car and rushed inside.
