Genya was going to Gyomei's training for the final training part.
Why did he shut me out like that? Why would he say I'm not his brother? Why? Why?! Why!? Wh-.
His thoughts were interrupted by the clashing sound of water, Like a waterfall. Genya walked more through a bit of leftover forest to see that he was right. It was a waterfall. A slightly familiar one too. He slightly recognized it when he was searching for his master, Gyomei.Genya found him under the waterfall, and was invited to try to stand under it. Genya failed somewhat quickly, but Gyomei said that was the farthest he's seen anyone stand under the freezing temperature and hardly falling water. Genya still saw it as a fail though.
Enough down memory lane, though. Genya was here to do one thing, and one thing only.
To get stronger. And that was what he was going to do.
When he looked at the people in under the falling water, he saw only tanjiro.
Tanjiro has proven to be a strong man. I'm not surprised.
Genya got ready to jump in the freezing cold water. He took of his shirt and placed it under a tree. After he walked to the waterfall he saw Tanjiro walked away.
He must have completed this part.
Genya jumped into the water, careful not to splash anyone lying on the rocks.
I remember those rocks, those things are supposed to be warm. Unlike the water.
Genya started walking through the water to the waterfall. Once he got under, he started changing the 'Namu abita butsu.' a prayer how mom taught him, but gyomei taught to use it to focus.
Eventually, after a bit of attempts, Genya passed the waterfall and log carrying parts of the training.
Now he was told to move the boulder. The boulder Genya saw Gyomei pushing from time to time, sometimes lifting it over his head. The boulder was a little over 10,000 pounds, and Genya was once offered to try and push it. But failed, I'm Genya's eyes, miserably.
Genya tried and tried to push the Boulder, and failed. Except one attempt he heard something drag for a moment, and then realized that in between him and the boulder, there was a small trail, about 4 inches. That was enough to boost Genya's motivation. If he could move it a bit, then he could move it more.
Genya was trying to move it for days, but failed.
He once saw Tanjiro, lying on the ground. Genya decided to talk to him, in case Tanjiro was losing motivation. Genya talked to Tanjiro about Tanjiro's forehead mark, Gyomei, and moving the boulder.
After a bit of talking, Tanjiro got back to work. Which made Genya go back too.
Genya tried more, but still failed. It reminded his of his brother, and the harsh words that he said.
'A scumbag like you, could never be a brother of mine. Your better off quitting the corps!'
Genya strongly remembered every word that Sanemi said.
For hope to find motivation, Genya walked around the woods.
Coming up ahead, he saw a cliff. He walked over to it, stood near the edge, and looked down.
It probably went half a mile down. If somebody were to fall that height, they would certainly die.
Then it hit Genya.
What if he didn't just quit demon slaying, but also just quit the mistreatment from his older brother, the crushing weight of needing to be stronger. Everything that made Genya unhappy.
He had no family. no brother, the only thing that mattered to him.
Then, Genya took a step forward.
