Sanemi was still injured after the fight with muzan. so when he was at the butterfly mansion, Aoi told him to get some rest, and he could rest there to keep his wounds in check.

When it got dark, Sanemi thought about how much lighter the night looked as he got his bed ready to sleep in. Nobody would come home to see their family dead, and anybody could walk around at whatever willy-nilly pace they wanted to at night, and they wouldn't get killed by any man eating monsters. All because of this era. Al because of the people who fought muzan, and the people to died to other demons.

Oh, Genya, if only at least you lived to see this day that I now lived to. I wish we could swap places right now. And Masachika, Kanae, mom, Shinobu, gyomei, obanai, all of you. I wish you all could have lived to see the day.

Sanemi got into the guest bed and drifted to sleep. Awaiting what dreams or nightmares lay in store for him.

Sanemi regained his consciousness in a black void, much like the one he was forced out of, when he was supposed to die.

"Hello Nemi."

Sanemi instantly recognized the voice, instantly recognized the nickname. He became wide eyed and quickly turned around.

Behind him stood Genya, smiling warmly. surprisingly, after what happened last time they met, Genya looked pretty happy to see sanemi.

"Genya!"

Sanemi yelled. He ran to Genya in teary eyes. So happy to see his brother one more time.

Genya opened out his arms a bit and sanemi ran into them. Using as much force to knock him and Genya down.

Genya put his arms under Sanemi's shoulder for the ground hug. Genya still smiled warm with his eyes now open. Also happy to see his brother again.

"Genya, I'm sorry. I should have at least said goodbye-."

"Don't worry about it. Your forgiven."

Genya only made Sanemi tear up more and clench onto Genya more. Sanemi spoke during sobs.

"But I'm sorry for leaving you, I'm sorry for not protecting you Genya, I'm sorry for turning away from you. I'm sorry for all the harsh things I said. I regret it so bad. I'm so sorry."

Genya just continued to smile.

"It's ok, your forgiven. I'm sorry that you had to kill our mom. And I called you a murderer. I'm sorry."

"Please just shut up. You were young. You understood what was happening as much as I was. Not at all."

Sanemi and Genya sat up.

"Everybody is happy in heaven, and mom is getting another chance."

Sanemi turned his head straight back to Genya in shock.

"Wait, what?"

"Mom, she's gonna be reborn. It wasn't her fault for being a demon. And she had no control over her actions. So she's gonna get another shot on a new world. A world where she will never have to think about demons again. Because of the demons slayers. Because of you Aniki."

Genya closed his eyes and smiled again at Sanemi.

"You fought Muzan, and now nobody will have to deal with demons again."

Sanemi looked down and responded.

"No, it was me and mainly others.

Genya maintained his smile.

"But you fought the most powerful demon and survived. I couldn't even do much in the upper 1 battle. You are strong Nemi. Stronger than I could ever be. You are talented and special, unlike me."

Sanemi looked at Genya, tears almost forming in his eyes.

"Please don't say that. Please don't talk bad about yourself after you gave it your all, and let yourself die for others. Don't say that, Please."

"I'm not talking badly about myself, it's true.
You could use breathing styles, I couldn't.
You became a hashira, I couldn't.
You lived.
I couldn't.
You're simply stronger than I could ever be, Aniki.

Sanemi stood up.

"I said quit saying that! You obviously had stronger will than me! If I couldn't use breathing styles, I wouldn't even be in the corps! So shut up and quit being moronic! LIKE YOU WERE WHEN YOU JOINED THE DEMON SLAYERS!"

It was clear that Sanemi let his anger get the best of him yet again. But quickly realized what he said and covered his mouth with his hands.

Genya looked up at Sanemi in surprise. But changed his expression back to his smile and stood up as well.

"Well, if you really think that, then I can go. Actually go."

Genya turned around and started walking away.

"Wait, Genya! I didn't mean that! Please, don't go! I'm sorry! Please!"

Genya kept walking, untill he stopped.

"Y'know, this reminds me of the time when I tried to talk to you, you wanted nothing to do with me."

Sanemi started crying, begining to again regret all the terrible things that he had done to Genya.

"But I've forgiven you, Sanemi . But I hope that you can forgive me. It's time for me to go."

Sanemi still had his hand out, still in tears.

"Goodbye."

Sanemi began running to Genya.

"I'm sorry... Nemi."

Sanemi woke up and quickly sat up.

Sanemi woke up in the butterfly mansion. all the lights out, still dark outside. Nobody else in the room with him.

Sanemi woke up in tears, that dream felt real, that Genya felt like the same Genya.

Sanemi took a moment to gather what happened, then put it into place.

Genya came to say goodbye one last time. And Sanemi yelled at him, chased him away, when all his little brother wanted was to see his older brother. Like Sanemi always did.

Sanemi put his legs together and hid his head into them. Still crying.

"I'm sorry, Genya."

*4 years later*

Sanemi lived the rest of his life untill he turned 25. He went missing for a week until Tanjiro and others came to see him.

Lying in bed was a cold body that once belonged to Sanemi. With the eyes slightly open. With what was left of a smile with nothing supporting it.

Like Sanemi actually saw the light. And what was welcoming him to heaven.
It was probably God.

And maybe some lost loved ones. Waiting to see Sanemi again.

And where Sanemi was then, he was happy.

Happy to see his siblings, his best friend Masachika, his lover, Kanae, his coworkers, or his friends, shinobu, obanai, Gyomei, his master, Kagaya.

And his brother, Genya.

Two brothers, finally seeing each other after everything. Finally getting what they wanted. Happiness.
